Before anybody passes out from the vapors, y’all know Donald Trump was a builder, right? He worked for a living, unlike most presidents who went to Harvard law and spent their careers in politics. He knows exactly how much construction costs are—the real costs, private sector costs—and they are not the same as bloated government contractor costs.
If bridges and roads are aging out (and they are) Trump’s background and his experience negotiating construction deals should result in some cost savings. He knows how inflated construction contracts are in the states, especially as compared to other countries where governments pay actual costs.
So whatever amount of infrastructure spending is budgeted, I expect at minimum we get our monies worth from this president.
