Vermont independent senator receives money from 225,000 individual donors in a sign of his strong online fundraising base

WASHINGTON—Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s campaign said it raised $5.9 million in the first 24 hours after his presidential announcement, a sign of his online fundraising advantage at the start of the Democratic primaries.
The independent senator received donations from more than 225,000 individual donors in the first day of his campaign, a haul that far outpaced his Democratic rivals and some of his biggest fundraising days during his 2016 primary challenge to Hillary Clinton....

Not a bad day's work for a guy who was once thrown out of a hippy commune for being too lazy.

Is AOC old enough to be a VP?
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I assume he'll be sharing this money - and all of his unused 2016 campaign money - with all the other candidates. To each according to his need, and all that ...

The dems were hoping he was history but it looks like he may hijack the party for real this time. The others planned to be out-and-out socialists during the primaries, then back off in the general. With Bernie doubling down on socialism in the general they'll be screwed.

Just as bad, if he doesn't get the nomination he has no future in the party and so may decide to run as an independent...

I'll bet that Bernie thinks that he "needs" another luxury house!
Gotta pay for it somehow...

LOL he can run on the slogan, "I Was Socialist When Socialism Wasn't Cool."

If Bernie loses out on the nomination again and runs as an independent, I take as a great big positive. The socialists' head will explode.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Last time he had to pretend to back Bill's odious remora in the general to give himself one last shot with the dems. This time all bets are off - if he's the true socialist believer I think he is, he may well see 2020 as the one brief window of opportunity in his lifetime to actually make it happen. Working to elect another lame 0bama clone won't have any appeal for him.
