I don't live in a gated community, but none of my family has been gang raped by MS-13 types either.

Where you live is a collective beehive of leftist thought and a communist bedroom community of Madison WI.

Pearl clutching....how did you know pearls were my birthstone..I wear some sort of pearls everyday....and I don't clutch them.

You're breaking my heart...talk about preening..Trump should not have gloated and promised for 3 weeks how he was going to win this standoff...the biggest losers were 800k people who had to endure this madness brought on my him and his naivety in politics

Well said, @mystery-ak . My son is one of those 800K, he showed up for work every day. The worst he did was grumble a bit. Thankfully, he had the Bank of Mom & Dad to fall back on when he needed a bit of help. He tapped most of his savings to help pay for his wedding in September.

In Madison, you've got to watch out for those illegals, all 3 of them.

Nope. Dallas and  Dallas County is a cesspool of liberal turds.   I lived in Keller, A cesspool of another kind.

I knew Trump was going to be a 'Hail Mary Pass',  but I figured it was our only shot,  either he was going to succeed, or turn out to be like you said he'd be, or he'd be well-intentioned, but the Establishment in both parties would sabotage him.

I still think it was worth the risk in the end, and it could still work out.  These next few weeks will be critical.   But I will say, even if Trump is considered a failure, he still planted some seeds that may ultimately bear fruit, even if it's after he's out of office.

Well said @dfwgator . Call me an NT, but Trump has undeniably had some successes. The Republican Party needs to move on from the septuagenarians and octogenarians that are now calling the shots. I'm looking for someone in his/her 40s or 50s who can cobble together the factions at odds with each other in the center/right of center. I still like Cruz, but his brand was savaged by Trump. It needs to be someone who was not involved with the 2016 campaign.

Sorry, @Emjay, he's going to have to prove it now.  He screwed up bigly, perhaps fatally.

I couldn't agree more. Trump's staunch supporters really need to assess what he just did. I think that it is a possibility that all along Trump has been a puppet for the DEMS which would explain why he appointed Rosenstein and why with all the evidence of Clinton/Bammy corruption, they remain unscathed. Even with a full majority, the DEMS remained in control.  Is this Making America Great Again or is this completing Bammy's Transformation of America??

Sadly, we had a solid constitutional conservative and America instead believed the rhetoric from a salesman.

I don't expect Trump to run in 2020 and with amnesty just around the corner, we will have one party and we will become another Europe.

His promise about the wall was the cornerstone of what got him elected.  He's caved. It IS a great failure.

I agree with the poster who compared it to Bush's "read my lips."

We will see, and I will be ecstatic to eat my words if I'm proven wrong.  Unfortunately, I don't think I will be, and I'm really disappointed.

There's a ton of Karnacs in here that agree with you.

Some money for a wall would have been nice, @Sanguine

What I really wanted to see was several hundred thousand former govt. employees looking for jobs in the private sector.

@libertybele

Soaring deficits, a swampier Swamp, repeal Obamacare, PP funding, restoring American pride...I'd give him failing marks for trade deals, and foreign affairs...YMMV

But the worst thing that Trump did was pit God fearing, gun loving, abortion hating, American business supporting, and rat loathing conservatives against each other.

I think Trump ran to elect Hitlery.  When Trump failed the plan changed to destroying the GOP from with in.

This IS what winning looks like.  Are you sick of winning?

Exactly!!  It sure seems that Trump was merely a siphon for the DEMS as some (including myself) thought when he was campaigning.

@mystery-ak

About Hannity: "But he (Hannity) noted that Trump could allow another shutdown when the deadline arrives next month, or if a deal does not emerge he could declare a national emergency to circumvent Congress to build a wall, as the president suggested Friday.  “I think the president also kind of has a heart,” Hannity said. “He knows that this is tough on a lot of the furloughed workers.”

Trump cares nothing about the peons who work for him. I think it was an airport today in Washington, D.C., not having enough employees to get aircraft off the ground, that made him stop the shut-down.  That airport meant something to him - get the peons back to work so my airplanes can fly.

You know I live in Texas.
I don't see today's problem as meaning he will never get a wall.  There is now a commission by whatever name, with representatives of both parties, to work on an acceptable immigration policy/money/barriers/etc..
Unfortunately, it seems when there is a deadline for something, they start on the work the day before the deadline.

I know there are places on the Texas border that need a wall/barrier/whatever.  There are other places that do not need one such as a tall sheer cliff at the water's edge that no one could climb (don't send me pictures of people climbing up cliffs).  Get the specialists who know what barrier needs to be where, how many border agents they need, drones, etc., etc.. and start it.  Train new border guards, just start somewhere because if one never starts, it never gets done.

If this group doesn't put together something both parties will accept, and Trump shuts government down again, it will be total destruction of his presidency - he should not close down government again.  Hopefully he will listen to someone who has enough sense to know he should not shut it down.  It appears right now, Ann Coulter is president.

Hannity said, “I think the president also kind of has a heart”. “He knows that this is tough on a lot of the furloughed workers.”

You said, "Blah blah blah,  Bush had a "heart" too,  what good was that?"

I said Trump doesn't care about any of his peon workers, that he started government today so planes could take off at an airport in Washington, D.C.  I put Hannity's remark about Trump's "heart" in bold so people would know Hannity said it.  Trump has a cold heart - isn't there a western song about a cold heart?
