Vice President Joe Biden is reportedly upset that his former boss, Barack Obama, has been talking to other Democrats about a 2020 run for president.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who recently lost to Sen. Ted Cruz in their Texas midterm election contest, met with former President Obama last month as he considers his own White House bid.

According to insiders who spoke to Vanity Fair, word that Obama is speaking to potential Democratic contenders has miffed Biden, 76, who has privately been considering a campaign of his own against President Trump.

His spokesman, Bill Russo, called this description "unequivocally false. Period." Russo would not comment to Vanity Fair about how he actually feels about Obama's discussion with other Democrats who could face Biden in the primary season.

One source told the outlet that Obama still adores Biden and a former adviser explained that the ex-president, who endorsed Hillary Clinton's doomed campaign in 2016, wants to take his time and talk to all serious candidates.

“If Obama is playing footsie with people now, it creates tension,” said an adviser who works for a potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate. “And it gets you some media attention and maybe some staffing. But actual voters? Obama himself has always been popular with Democrats, but I’ve never seen his popularity be transferrable to someone else.” Don’t kid yourself, though: Biden, and all the others, would love any wink, nod, or blessing Obama might bestow.

You'd be surprised how many people like Biden. At the very least, he was a competent politician in every sense of the word: the glad-handing, pragmatic dealmaker. That's why he was on the Obama team: when Obama was too toxic to negotiate, they sent in Biden. That's how we got reconciliation.

He probably would've won in 2016. (Honestly, probably any Democrat except Hillary could have won.)

I don't think he'd have the same luck in 2020. The electorate has changed; the left is more rabid, and the right is entrenched as with any incumbent. Career politicians like Biden don't carry that kind of clout anymore. Now it's the radicals and "ethnic" young guns like Beto and AOC (who thankfully isn't eligible yet).

After the disaster of Obama, America wanted anything but a Democommie.  Trump seized upon the opportunity and ran a brilliant campaign against the GOP competition and against the shoe in Clinton!

Biden is a moron who has skated for 40 years.  He took Oliver Watt's place for saying the most stupid things one can say in politics and still survive.

When Joe Biden ran for President in 1988, he received less Democrat votes than Lyndon Larouche, David Duke, or James Traficant.  When he ran again in 2008, he spent over $6 million in Iowa which netted him 1% of the total vote which is flat out embarrassing, considering that Rick Santorum would win the Republican vote four years later while spending only $22,000.

Biden is a lazy fool, and everyone knows it.  He was liked only because he was laying on Obama's coattails for eight years.  And when Obama left office, there wasn't a single Democrat anywhere suggesting that Joe Biden should run.

And Biden's legacy on the VP spot is his famous hot-mike quote where he got caught saying that the best part of being Vice President is that you don't have to do anything.
