THE NUMBER OF SUNNI JIHADISTS WORLDWIDE HAS QUADRUPLED SINCE US LAUNCHED ‘WAR ON TERROR’

There are nearly four times as many Sunni Islamic militants operating across the world today as there were when the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks occurred, according to a study released Tuesday.

The report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a Washington foreign policy think tank, estimates up to 230,000 Salafist fighters are spread out among 70 countries, with the largest concentrations in Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

That figure, while down slightly from a high in 2016, remains at a near-peak level over the past four decades, according to CSIS. As a point of comparison, there were an estimated 80,000 Sunni militants in 2001, when the U.S. launched a global war on terror in response to 9/11.

The CSIS study draws its estimate of worldwide jihadist ranks from multiple government and non-governmental databases, including the State Department’s Foreign Terrorist Organizations List and the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. While numbers vary by organization, all indicate that U.S. counterterrorism policy has failed to contain, and in some cases exacerbated, the worldwide spread of jihadist ideology, according to the authors of the CSIS report.

It doesn't matter HOW MANY of them we kill.
More will rise up, in the same numbers, or greater numbers.

They are like apples from the trees that grew in my backyard.
Each season, they would fall and I'd have to pick them up and throw them to the fence.

But... with the next season... they would be right back there again, and I'd have to repeat the process.

There was only one way to finally put an end to them.
A few years ago, I did it -- I cut down the trees from which they fell.

Similarly, there's only one way to get rid of the jihadis that will have the same finality.
And that, too, is to "cut down the tree upon which they grow".

I once watched a CSPAN book show and the author said, you know, the more you fight Jihadism, the more it grows. So, though, the statement is somewhat "counterintuitive", I think there is something to that. That said, it had to be addressed, it's not like one would say do nothing about it.

General Sisi had some choice words on this topic once, I want to make sure, I state it correctly if I post it.

Well first of all...I don't know how people know it's quadrupled.

Secondly...I think these people are like the dragon's teeth that sprouted millions of soldiers when thrown on the ground.

Let's face it...their recruiters are better than ours. Who in our camp could convince people to strap on a suicide vest and blow themselves up for "The Cause".  And I hope that never happens.

As with our former communist adversaries, they don't care at all about human casualties so body count will not be a measure of success against them.
