Flake: Trump 'appalling' for questioning Kavanaugh accuser at rally

Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., on Wednesday condemned President Trump for casting doubt on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser and her allegations of sexual assault at a rally with supporters.

“There’s no time and no place for remarks like that,” Flake told NBC. “But to discuss something this sensitive at a political rally is just not right. It's just not right. I wish he hadn’t have done it. I’ll just say, it’s kind of appalling.”

Flake criticism would be more worrisome if he hadn't already shown himself to be such a feckless squish already.

One thing's certain IMO - he'll use this rather innocuous statement to justify his 'nay' vote, and try to hang responsibility on Trump for it.

Enjoy your last few weeks of relevance, senator.

If the old white cowards had done their jobs, Trump would not have to question her credibility.  He's not playing their little game.

I can't wait to hear the last of Senator Flake!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

The old white cowards can't trust each other enough to stick their necks out. That's why Trump will lead the charge or there will be no charge.

God, I can't wait until Flake is out of the Senate.

Trump should keep his mouth under control until the FBI report is out.
Having said that, it looks like Flake has found his reason to vote no

Flake was never going to vote for Kav..he has said as much the last few days.

Do we have enough votes to confirm..not sure..McConnell still hasn't said when the vote will be so I am guessing he is still trying to get the votes..

He's already pretty well said he was a no vote for the way Kavanaugh spoke to the Democrat senators.  What a complete idiot....

My prediction is that Flake will not vote "aye".
He will vote "no", or perhaps just "present".

Once more, I'm going to repeat (and I wish someone reading would at least try to refute me):
If the votes "aren't there", DON'T VOTE NOW.

Instead, McConnell should use his earliest opportunity to force a recess of the Senate (assuming he has the power to do so, not sure).

Then at that moment, Mr. Trump should recess-appoint Judge Kavanaugh to the Court. He will (at that very moment) be a "Justice of the Court" able to sit and hear cases.

McConnell should "keep the vote in his pocket" until after the elections and hold it as one of the first orders of business in January 2019.

FLAKE WILL BE GONE.
There will probably be 2, 3, 4 (maybe even more) brand-new Republican senators looking to "validate their worth" to the party. My guess is that each and every one of them will vote to confirm.

And they will render the votes of the weak sisters Collins and Murkowski un-needed.
Let them vote "no" if they wish. No one will care.

That's the way to "get 'er done".
Are you listenin', Mitch?

Can't anybody here play this game?
