Seriously though, some of the best fried chicken I ever had was at Charles Pan in Harlem. Not Dookie Chase level, but damn good.

Quite correct. I just read his bio on wikipedia. It never occurred to me that Colonel Sanders was not Southern. It simply never dawned on me to even think about it. It was obvious.

As a young kid I can remember Harlan Sanders on TV being an honorable businessman with a great idea.

Now they've turned him into a cartoon buffoon.  Disgusting.  Why isn't the family blasting this?

This is pretty much why, once Harlan passed on, there was NO Col. Sanders.  Replacing him with anybody else seemed disrespectful.  Still does.

I hate what they've done with him, but let's not whitewash either his business dealings or his personal life. 

He failed miserably in multiple fields (a lawyer, secretary of Chamber of Commerce, and a salesman -- failing at selling insurance, selling lamps, and selling tires).  He got into fistfights with associates that got him fired.  He swore up a storm at employees.  He grabbed a gun and a colleague to go confront a competitor, shooting the guy in the shoulder (the competitor shot Sanders' colleague and was convicted of murder).

And in his personal life, he ran around on his marriages a lot and maintained a mistress. 

He was a lot more rough-and-tumble than his gentlemanly image.
