Pentagon: US Saves $14 Mln Through Canceled Seoul-Washington Military Exercise
The U.S. Department of Defense said Monday that the U.S. will save about 14 million dollars from the cancellation of the Freedom Guardian joint exercise with South Korea.
In an estimate confirmed by spokesman Colonel Robert Manning, the Pentagon said that President Donald Trump's decision last month to suspend the Freedom Guardian war games with Seoul would offer the significant cost savings.
Newsweek magazine said the figure is about one day's worth of the U.S.-led coalition's battle against the Islamic State militant group.
