Well since when has Trump done what the Conservatives wanted?  Give me just one example.  They should have known he would pick who he wanted and to hell with them.  Right?

I guess. I was trying to give him a chance on this one.

Looking at the mixed reaction at different sources, it seems that this was a 'safe' choice to not push close Senate races to the left.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

@Once-Ler

"and directly lead to the deaths of countless women with the dismantling of abortion rights."

This is knee jerk reaction from libs - they should read about the judge before opening their mouths: The judge says Roe vs. Wade is the law and he will uphold it with restrictions.  Their abortions are law.

Weren't all the judges on candidate Trump's list fully vetted by conservative organizations and each given a thumbs up?

@libertybele

I really don't know ... I'm going by two things:  He's a "Bushy" and his 'opinion' on the ACA.

IMHO Trump really blew this one.

Secondly ... if this appointment is any indication of how Trump is going to be during his second term (especially if we don't retain the majority), we're in trouble.

No way was there a 'deal on this.   It would have leaked days ago.

Kavanaugh would not have been my first choice but I'm happy never the less,

Me either, but he still looks to be to the right of Kennedy on a large majority if issues.

Worst case here is that he rules just like Justice Roberts.

Kennedy was a libertarian, fairly reliable on most issues, except for his ardent defense of homosexuality and squishiness on most social issues.

Roberts is an unpredictable corporatist.

Or, even worse, it could be a David Souter who turns out to be a far-left justice. Coincidentally, Roberts and Souter were both Bush family nominees, and they just LOVE Kavanaugh.

I'm glad you added in your humble opinion.

Jay Sekulow is praising Kavanaugh as someone who understands the role of the judge.  Conservatives can't ask for more than this...it's what we've always been demanding.

All the MSM has been talking about since Kennedy announced his retirement is Kavanaugh. The others hardly got a mention.

Why would the MSM...Fox News included spend so much air time on him if they didn't already know he was the choice?

Certainly won't be able to count on him to help overturn ACA or Roe that's for sure.

Worst case is he rules to the left of Kemmedy...and he turns out to be another David Souter.

I think that you may like this about Kavanaugh.  It looks like he may be strong on Immigration.

Reminder:

The NAACP and National Organization for Women both ardently swore David Souter would destroy women's and blacks' rights, and tried to block his nomination. He, of course, turned out to be one of their greatest allies, and one of the worst lost opportunities to fix the mistakes of the heinous reign of terror Souter's predecessor William Brennan had wrought on the court.

In 2009, Kavanaugh wrote an article for the Minnesota Law Review where he argued that U.S. Presidents should be exempt from “time-consuming and distracting” lawsuits and investigations, which “would ill serve the public interest, especially in times of financial or national security crisis.”[51] This article garnered attention in 2018 when Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Donald Trump, whose 2016 presidential campaign is the subject of an ongoing federal probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.[51]

WOWSER!  Turns out Mrs. Kavanaugh is from my hometown and went to my High School.  It's a VERY small world!  Now everyone please be nice to our new nominee...lol.  She did go to UT though...that has to be a negative...lol.
