President Trump performed a rare U-turn on Wednesday amid criticism from all sides over the separation of children from their parents at the border.

The verdict from people in and around the White House was that the pressure had become just too much to withstand — including from his own family members.

A White House official told The Hill on Wednesday that first lady Melania Trump had been “sharing her opinion with her husband for several days” on the matter.

The official said the first lady had been doing so “feeling it important to do all he can to keep families together whether through legislative action or something on his own.”

This was exactly what Trump knew would happen.  He is eventually going to be ordered to release those children -- separating them from their parents -- by a court.  At that point, the Democrat true agenda -- catch and release for parents -- can no longer hide behind children.  And that's where Trump is going to draw the line.

It probably wasn't just Melania I am sure Ivanka was probably vocal also.  Bottom line is that we know that so far every time it counted Trump caved.  Family separation was the biggest and only deterrent since the invasion of our country began.   And it was done professionally and humanely.

It was a great thing zero tolerance and with a stroke of the pen it ended.  Did it satisfy the left?  No, only open borders will do that.  And here in Washington all of us taxpayers are strapped with paying legal fee's for illegal aliens.

Well just like the liberals I have a goal too.  Donald we know that you can rule by EO.  Please sign a new one to remove all families immediately upon processing so that we do not have to pay to imprison them or provide lawyers for them.

Isn't his EO the same as the Cruz bill that would have kept families together until their case was resolved? The children are not being released into the country. They are being held with those claiming to be their parents.

Bingo - and this is where's Trump's political ju-jitsu will prove winning.   Trump is giving up the separation policy, but not the zero tolerance policy.   That is why he is demanding a legislative fix - a fix that Congress is so far unwilling to provide.   But the public will not stand for returning to the old ways of not enforcing the law.   Politically, he's got 'em by the balls now.

That will indeed be the outcome - except this time Trump will have the cover of a court opinion for detaining the children separately,  assuming there are no other family members to care for them.   And at that point Trump will have the leverage he needs to force Congress to get off their partisan, irresponsible asses and act.
