Better than having to defend the flippin' alt-right and their racist priorities.
You still have yet to point out specifically what Trump has said that's racist or alt-right.
Not that I really expect you to.
Illegal immigrants aren't vermin. Most come here to work, and work harder than the lazy Americans who, despite the booming economy, won't come off the sidelines and rejoin the labor force.
Wanna bet?
• Turning to households headed by immigrants in the country illegally, we estimate that 62 percent used one or more welfare programs in 2012, compared to 30 percent of native households.
• Households headed by immigrants illegally in the country have higher use rates than native households overall and for food programs (57 percent vs. 22 percent) and Medicaid (51 percent vs. 23 percent). Use of cash programs by illegal immigrants is lower than use by natives (5 percent vs. 10 percent), as is use of housing programs (4 percent vs. 6 percent).
• There is a child present in 86 percent of illegal immigrant households using welfare, and this is the primary way that these households access programs.
• Of illegal immigrant households with children, 87 percent access one or more welfare programs compared to 52 percent of native households.
https://cis.org/sites/default/files/camarota-welfare-illegals_1.pdfI'm not suggesting the laws should not be enforced.
And yet here you are finger wagging people for wanting the laws enforced...telling us we should turn a blind eye because "it's only a misdemeanor".
Illegals are just that, and they must be dealt with appropriately under the law.
And the law says you're arrested and deported if you're found to be in this country illegally.
But that is no reason to dehumanize them, or suggest they come here to sponge off American taxpayers.
Yet the facts show that sponging is exactly what they do. And the Federal Government and sympathetic no borders groups run ads all the time in Mexico and other Latin American countries showing people who sneak across the border how to apply for welfare before they even arrive in the U.S.
Crossing the border illegally in search of a job is a misdemeanor. That's it - a simple misdemeanor.
It's still breaking the law. And I do believe just a few sentences ago you said:
I'm not suggesting the laws should not be enforced
So which is it...enforce the law or look the other way? Usually you wait a couple posts to have it both ways on an issue...half a paragraph is a record for you.
Such folks are not invading hordes, infesting our nation with their evil presence
Right that's why the majority of those we're catching coming into the country are MS13...drug runners and human traffickers.
They want to work.
No they don't. The facts state otherwise.
And as for those fleeing desparate situations and seeking asylum, I agree with the First Lady - enforce the law, but not at the expense of our humanity.
Amazing how she had 8 years of her husband enforcing a policy signed by Bill Clinton and she stayed silent.
Same for 8 years of the Obama administration enforcing the same policy...crickets.
Just because you're poor isn't a reason to seek asylum. Because your husband beats you...isn't a reason for asylum.
The U.N. resolution from 1951 dealing with asylum and refugees says that refugees can't forum shop as is the case right now. They are supposed to file for asylum in the first country they come to not directly involved in the conflict forcing them to flee. They can't bounce from country to country to country until they get to the U.S. and can apply for all of our welfare benefits.
