White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Sunday said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "double-crossed" the U.S. after the G-7 summit meeting last week by announcing retaliatory tariffs.

Trudeau on Saturday said in a news conference that Canada "will not be pushed around" and announced he would place new taxes on U.S. imports in response to tariffs Trump had placed on metals from multiple countries, including Canada.

"I personally negotiated with Prime Minister Trudeau who, by the way, I basically like working with, but not until this sophomoric play," Kudlow said on CNN.

He said that Trudeau was "polarizing" in his statement and that "he really kind of stabbed us in the back."

Trump himself responded to Trudeau on Twitter, saying, "PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, “US Tariffs were kind of insulting” and he “will not be pushed around.” Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!"

Trump was right about Trudeau.  He acted like a little girl while Trump was around and then stabbed him in the back the minute Trump's plane lifted safely into the air.

   I haven't heard about the US Lumber Industry recovering from the Tariffs Trump imposed on Canadian Lumber but I do know how much more I pay for it at my local Loews/Home Depot.

Fox News’ Steve Hilton correctly colorfully calls G-7 the “pompous pearl-clutchers of the international elite”.

They are also the eternally back-biting collect who complained about President Trump’s arrival in a helicopter, noise of which Reuter reports was so loud they had to stop talking for awhile, in a scene one official compared to the opening from the U.S. television series M.A.S.H.

It was a description that paled to the one he was to later lay on them: The “We couldn’t believe we got away with it”  Smirk Club.

Laying it on the line, he said the trade deficits that the U.S. faces “with virtually every country in the world”’ is the fault of past leaders from the last 50 years.

A lot of these countries actually smile at me when I’m talking and the smile is - we couldn’t believe we got away with it,” Trump said.   He insisted things will be different going forward and argued that other countries have no choice in the matter. If they refuse to change, the massive U.S. economy could decide to no longer trade with them, he warned.

The dispute with Mexico over access to the US for Mexican trucks under NAFTA.  Mexico imposed tariffs in response to the US refusal to comply with its obligation to let the trucks in, and the US ultimately caved.
