Federal judge rules Trump cannot block people on Twitter

A federal judge in Manhattan ruled Wednesday it is a violation of the First Amendment for President Trump to block a user from viewing his Twitter account.

“This case requires us to consider whether a public official may, consistent with the First Amendment, ‘block’ a person from his Twitter account in response to the political views that person has expressed, and whether the analysis differs because that public official is the President of the United States," U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald said in her ruling. "The answer to both questions is no."

The lawsuit was filed in July by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University on behalf of seven people who were blocked by @realDonaldTrump on Twitter after criticizing the president.

The plaintiffs argued that in blocking them from the president’s Twitter account, their First Amendment rights had been violated because his account is a public forum.

That's bizarre. Federal Judges must have collectively taken up smoking crack as a profession.
Lately, they have become totally out of control. They seem to think they are more powerful than the President, or the Law, or the Constitution. Delusions of grandeur or something, I guess.

On the other thread on this I linked to the ruling. The judge makes the point in section B that the account became an official government account after the President took office. The registration was updated to read 'official account of the 45th President' and paid Federal staffers maintain that account- so for all intents and purposes, it because a government account.

The way the ruling read, it seems as though if it weren't for that, the judge wouldn't have ruled the way she did plus she didn't force the WH to reinstate banned users, it was more of a symbolic ruling.

A case of lack of foresight in the changing of the registration and having maintenance of it funded by tax dollars.

I believe there are public and private accounts. Trump's would be public but he can apparently block other of the Twitterati.
