We have a millennial here at work, 20 years old, our warehouse guy.
Started a year ago April, and tomorrow is his last day.
He is moving on because he has a lineman job now.
Mind you, he has no clue what he is getting into.
Someone told him he would make 40K to start and he took the job.
We've figured he had a family member or friend who got him the job.
This kid would barely get here on time, and leave 5 minutes early.
He gets a half hour for lunch, but his boss gets an hour, so he hides the extra half hour his boss is gone.
He's actually set the alarm on his phone to tell when it was time to go home.
I don't think he can read a clock that is not digital.
He has done everything possible to barely work without getting fired.
He has never used a land line before.
The phone was ringing in the warehouse one day, we told him to answer it, and he said didn't know how.
One day he asked my if Washington state was in another country.
He asked me because we shipped something there, and he was looking for export documents.
This kids big dream in life is to be a comic book illustrator.
As for the lineman job, I give him a month before they run him off.
He doesn't like to work in a hot or dirty environment, we've seen that 1st hand, and he's said as much.
It's a shame. He's a big, stout kid, and that job could work out well for him.
I actually feel sorry for the kid.
His parents did him a great disservice.
We tried to mentor him, but he was just too clueless.
Whether he was that clueless or by design, we really don't know.
