Queen will miss Epsom Derby tomorrow, Buckingham Palace says

Quote

The Queen will not attend the Epsom Derby on Saturday, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The monarch, a keen racehorse owner and breeder, is expected to watch the major sporting event on television at Windsor Castle.

There had been speculation the Queen would not appear at the horse race due to the ongoing mobility issues she experienced during her two appearances on Thursday.

Just wow. Stunning.

Indeed.  I don't think I've ever seen Kate wear anything that didn't compliment her.

@Gefn in what I've been sadly reading is that this Jubilee also signifies a slow transition from HRH to Charles.  God bless her.  She is 96 years old and she has proudly served for 70 years.

I don't think she is sick..they were talking on FOX yesterday it was her knees...they should have brought her something to sit on when she was on the balcony to take the pressure off..

'Lilibet meets Lilibet'! The Queen 'FINALLY sees her namesake great-granddaughter for the first time' in Windsor following Harry and Meghan's lunch with senior royals

Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced Lilibet to Queen, nicknamed Lilibet as a child, at Windsor yesterday
It came after they attended private Royal Family lunch at Buckingham Palace following Trooping the Colour
Harry and Meghan are expected to remain mostly low-profile over the four-day Platinum Jubilee weekend
They will attend today's Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's - their first joint royal engagement in two years

The Queen has reportedly met her great-granddaughter Lilibet for the first time after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had lunch with the monarch and senior royals behind closed doors as part of Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have introduced their little girl to the Queen - nicknamed Lilibet as a child - yesterday at Windsor after attending a private Royal Family lunch at Buckingham Palace following Trooping the Colour.

News of the Queen's alleged meeting with Lilibet yesterday – which comes ahead of her first birthday tomorrow – was revealed on BBC Breakfast today by royal commentator Omid Scobie, who is friendly with the Sussexes.

He said: 'I think people are expecting some sort of big birthday extravagant event, that we're going to see photographs from. From what I'm told, we shouldn't expect anything. Those moments with Lilibet are very much private between them and the Queen and of course we know how much she's been looking forward to it.

'They've been held back by a pandemic. Of course the times that Harry has been here it's just been by himself for quite sombre occasions. And so this really was the first time. Of course we know the Queen went back to Windsor Castle yesterday, the couple went back to Windsor as well where they're staying at Frogmore Cottage. So that would have been the first moment or the first chance for her to meet her namesake.'

Harry and Meghan are expected to remain mostly low-profile over the four-day Jubilee weekend, with no sign of the Netflix cameras that followed them around at the Invictus Games in the Netherlands in April. But they will attend today's Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral - their first joint royal engagement in two years.

It could also be for William as well. I read Charles blew a kiss to Kate and Charlotte today. He did not do this for Megan

Charles is a difficult person to read, but I think he must feel some heartache because of Harry's choices. Obviously, perhaps some embarrassment as well.

Chivalrous Charles! Sweet moment Prince of Wales blows a kiss to daughter-in-law Kate Middleton to greet her at St Paul's - before keeping Harry and Meghan at a tactful distance in carefully choreographed ceremony

Prince Charles showed a moment of warm affection towards daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, 40, at service
As the four greeted each other inside St Paul's Cathedral Charles warmly blew Duchess of Cambridge a kiss
However, the heir to the throne was not seen interacting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Event was carefully stage-managed to keep Sussexes apart from Cambridges, Charles and Camilla

I feel badly for the Queen and admire her. I can guarantee that if I had to "stand and deliver" like she did, I would be down for the count. And I'm not even close to her age.

If it had been me I probably would have opted to going to the horse race (which I would love) and foregoing the other hub-pub. But, of course, I'm not Queen.

Those two are the most selfish people....I hope they at least let their children meet their cousins as of now only the Queen, Charles and Charles wife has seen them.

Why they couldn't have a family birthday party for the baby is beyond me...

I had read that William and Kate had other obligations, but I agree, they couldn't arrange to celebrate on a day that the family could all gather?

I couldn't agree more; Harry and Markle are selfish and both want to be the center of attention.

They were "booed" by the crowds which means that the Brits no longer see them as royalty, so I don't see them coming back to England anytime soon.

That's probably what most of the Royals are saying..

If only Ms. Callahan could tell us how she really feels ....

Quote
Harry and Meghan finally got what they deserve — a chorus of royally loud boos
NY Post, Jun 3, 2022, Maureen Callahan

Finally, Harry and Meghan got what they deserve: boos!

That smug smile, at long last, has been wiped off Meghan’s face. Actual tears, not her usual crocodile variety, welled up. She was visibly unnerved.

Makes sense. Like all malignant narcissists, Meghan is only capable of feeling sorry for herself. Lest we forget Meghan, the grand duchess, standing among impoverished, starving African children and griping — to a broadcast interviewer! — “Not many people have asked me if I’m OK.”

May I be among the first to ask: So, Meghan, how are you feeling now?

After two years of accusing the British royal family of everything from wishing Meghan would kill herself to being racist toward her unborn baby to being held literal prisoner by royal staffers to accusing Kate Middleton of making Meghan cry — while branding themselves as eco-warrior-humanitarian-mental-health-experts, motto, for real, “Be kind” — these two get their comeuppance.

It’s exquisite.

Turns out the royals know a bit about mental health and manipulators themselves, because they’ve deployed the only tactic that works: the gray rock. It’s like dealing with toddlers having tantrums — you just ignore, ignore, ignore until they tire themselves out.

The royals have played the long game, brilliantly putting the Sussexes in a no-win situation: Decline their invite and look mean, petty and vengeful, slighting the ailing queen on her historic jubilee. Accept and get the coldest of shoulders before an audience of billions.

Get the message now, kids?

How gratifying to see H&M shuffled off to the cheap seats in the second row, across the aisle from Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, none of whom cast a glance their way. How elegantly the BRF has slid in the knife: no official portraits with the queen, no appearance on the balcony, no access to any royals of consequence in public.

Harry and Meghan are royals now in name only.

Hey, they always said they just wanted to be regular people, right?

H&M weren’t even in attendance at the buffet luncheon after Friday’s service. Will and Kate were, though.

Instead, those two slunk off to Frogmore Cottage, that dump they spent millions in taxpayer funds renovating before fleeing to Montecito.

One can imagine Harry and Meghan frantically doom-scrolling through their media coverage while drowning their sorrows in kale juice and victimhood, plotting how they might commodify this latest injustice.

After all, they’ll need the money. Charles stopped paying the bills over a year ago. Spotify isn’t happy. Neither is Netflix. George Clooney, Oprah — even Gayle won’t take their calls.

Even worse, this jubilee weekend was supposed to give Harry tons of material for his big tell-all memoir. All he’s going home with is a sad view from the second row.

Harry and Meghan celebrated their daughter Lilibet's first birthday in Windsor yesterday with a 'relaxed' birthday party —with royal second cousins invited to the festivities.

The couple held an informal garden party at Frogmore Cottage, on the royal estate, with a birthday cake, balloons, party games and picnic snacks, it is understood.

]The little girl's birthday party was open to Zara and Mike Tindall's three children, Mia, eight, Lena, three, and Lucas, one, as well as Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10, daughters of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly.

Three-year-old Archie's godfather, Charlie Van Straubenzee, and his brother Tom, godfather to Princess Charlotte, were also invited, it is understood.

'It was a lovely do and had everything you’d expect from a child’s birthday party,' a source told The Sun. 'The idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual, with people free to pop in and out as they wished.'

They said that it was a 'nice opportunity' for some of the royal children to meet little Lilibet, with this trip being her first time in the UK.

They added that 'lots of discussion' had been had about the best gifts for the 'milestone' birthday, with a '£75 pink Volkswagen Beetle ride-on toy' proving a popular idea.

The royal Cambridge children have joined their mother, Kate Middleton, in baking cakes for a Cardiff street party, which is taking pace today to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Adorable pictures posted online by the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge, showed Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, making the treats in their kitchen ahead of the family's visit to the Welsh capital yesterday.

I'm sure Harry will include all the 'booing' and snubbing' that they received in his book.

I truly hope that these two ungrateful, narcissistic snobs never return.

Harry has broken his grandmother's and the rest of the family's heart and disgraced them and for him to expect the British people to hold him or Markle in esteem is quite laughable.

So ... is it time yet for them to leave?? Interesting, still no new pics of their little ones. (Archie's hair looks like they attached some kind of moppy wig to him).

Louis is a pistol... :silly:

Touching moment Prince Charles bounces his cheeky grandson on his knee as four-year-old Prince Louis steals the show AGAIN, clenching his fists, sticking out his tongue and shushing his mother Kate in the Royal box

Prince Louis once again proved a hit on social media while watching the Platinum Jubilee Pageant in London
The four-year-old delighted crowds on Thursday as he stood next to his great-grandmother The Queen
Today, he proved just as entertaining while reacting to the fourth day of celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee
He passed between relatives and sat on his grandfather Prince Charles' lap, who pointed out the spectacles
At times, he was seen cocking a snook, placed his hands over his face, shushed his mother and clenched fists
