Except, instead of selling music, Harry and Meghan are here to sell us their ideas and personas. They haven’t just quit working for the royal family, they found a better gig.

Their post-royal trajectory resembles that of post-presidency Barack and Michelle Obama. Harry and Meghan give interviews, publish books, and launch charitable ventures. This is earning them a fortune, but they still claim to be victims.

The couple left the British royal family, a move dubbed “Megxit” in the press, in January 2020. Since then, they have rarely been off the front pages. Harry made headlines when he blamed “mass-scale misinformation” for COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy during a virtual appearance at the GQ Men of the Year awards on September 2.

Harry and Meghan embrace every standard liberal position, particularly a horror of people getting information from any source other than legacy media outlets and institutions.

I honestly do not know ONE single person that has ever mentioned either in public,other than the people who saw Markle in the drama series she was in,and to give her the credit due,she IS a pretty good actress.

I suspect the largest part of this "interest" comes from the media,and they only care because they need to have something to write about.

A descendant of Russia's former imperial family married his Italian bride on Friday in the first royal wedding to take place on Russian soil since tsarist times more than a century ago.

Grand Duke George Mikhailovich Romanov tied the knot with Victoria Romanovna Bettarini, an Italian, at St. Isaac's Cathedral in Russia's former imperial capital St Petersburg.

Russian Orthodox clergy conducted the elaborate ceremony, watched by hundreds of guests who included the groom's mother, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia — the self-proclaimed heir to Russia's imperial throne - and more than a dozen minor European royals.

George Mikhailovich's great-grandfather, Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich, fled Russia during the 1917 Bolshevik revolution, escaping first to Finland and later relocating with his family to Western Europe.

Russia's last tsar, Nicholas II, his wife and five children were murdered by a revolutionary firing squad in July, 1918, in the cellar of a merchant's house in Yekaterinburg, a city 900 miles east of Moscow.

George Mikhailovich, 40, was born in Madrid and has lived most of his life in Spain and France.

Bettarini, 39, who converted to the Russian Orthodox faith last year and took the name Victoria Romanovna, was led to the altar by her father, Roberto Bettarini, who has served in the Italian diplomatic service.

The Romanov dynasty ruled Russia for over 300 years before Nicholas II abdicated in early 1917, setting the country on course for the Bolshevik Revolution in November of that year, civil war and 70 years of Communist rule.

Meghan Markle was today accused of using her British royal title to meddle at the top of US politics and adopting the 'ruthless streak' and 'tactics of an aspiring politician' to lobby two senior Washington figures on Joe Biden's proposed parental and sick leave legislation in a 1000-word letter sent on the Sussexes' own headed paper.

Royals experts have also questioned whether Americans will be impressed 'by her account of how she had to struggle' on $4.99 salads from Sizzler when her estranged father Thomas put her through private school from kindergarten and she now lives in a $14million LA mansion while sitting on a $100million fortune.

 Queen Elizabeth II entered the hospital on Wednesday afternoon for tests and was discharged on Thursday, a day after Buckingham Palace announced she would cancel a visit to Northern Ireland on the advice of her doctors.

The palace, which provided no further details on her condition or the nature of the tests, confirmed the hospital visit on Thursday evening, after a report about it appeared in The Sun, a British tabloid. On Wednesday, the palace said she “reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days.”

In the latest statement, a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said, “the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits.”

People with ties to the palace said the decision to cancel the Northern Ireland trip was prompted by concerns that the queen, 95, was exhausted after a hectic series of public events, including a reception for business people, including Bill Gates, at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening.

The queen returned to her desk at Windsor on Thursday afternoon, according to a person with ties to the palace. The decision for her to stay overnight was taken as a precaution by the queen’s medical team, this person said.

Palace insiders recently told Katie Nicholl, royal author and Vanity Fair correspondent, that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will very likely make a high-profile visit across the pond in 2022 to boost their popularity.

"[They] are aware that their popularity took a bit of a dive post the Oprah interview, and that the focus now is on getting that support back," one source told the outlet.

The couple’s last official visit to the U.S. was in December 2014. At the time, the duchess, 39, was pregnant with Princess Charlotte.

I'm thinking we'll either see her stepping down or she will pass; she's had a very long reign.  The question is -- will Charles take over as the rightful heir or will  he abdicate the throne on to William?  William and Kate are much more popular. Charles still carries some baggage because of Diana and Camilla, well, she just doesn't have much of a royal presence.  Abdication though would involve the approval of parliament.

I very strongly doubt the Queen will abdicate - shades of the last monarch to abdicate are too strong - so I believe she will die in her traces.  It is what good monarchs do, after all.

I also highly doubt that Charles will abdicate, either.  Too much ego in that one.  He'll want to set his own "stamp" on the monarchy and, feeling his age, will rush to do it all at once.  Hopefully, the internal bureaucracy of the royal house will be up to the challenge of fending off the worst of his ideas.

If there is any part of the monarchy left after Charles, William will get that in due course.  Hopefully, he will be up to the challenge of repairing all the damage that will be wrought by his father.

LONDON (AP) — The Duchess of Sussex has apologized for misleading a British court about the extent of her cooperation with the authors of a sympathetic book about her and Prince Harry.

The former Meghan Markle is embroiled in legal action in London over a newspaper’s publication of portions of a letter she wrote to her estranged father after her 2018 marriage to Harry, a grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

She sued the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and the MailOnline website for breach of privacy and copyright. A High Court judge ruled in her favor in February, saying publication of the letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, was “manifestly excessive and hence unlawful.”

Publisher Associated Newspapers is trying to overturn that decision at the Court of Appeal. The publisher argues that Meghan wrote the letter knowing it might be published and made private information public by cooperating with Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of “Finding Freedom.” 

The duchess’ lawyers have previously denied that she or Harry collaborated with the authors. But the couple’s former communications director, Jason Knauf, said in evidence to the court that he gave the writers information, and discussed it with Harry and Meghan. ...

Associated Newspapers says Knauf’s evidence also undermines Meghan’s claim that she did not intend the letter to be seen by anyone but her father. ...

After an enforced hiatus due to Covid-19, a domestic interlude which Meghan and Harry filled by producing a second child and some inspirational videos, the Sussexes are back. CNN) — Britain's Queen Elizabeth II missed the Remembrance Sunday service in central London after spraining her back, Buckingham Palace said Sunday.

"The Queen, having sprained her back, has decided this morning with great regret that she will not be able to attend today's Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cenotaph. Her Majesty is disappointed that she will miss the service," a statement said.
Prince Charles laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on the Queen's behalf, as in previous years.

Buckingham Palace had confirmed on Thursday that the 95-year-old monarch was well enough to attend the ceremony to commemorate those who have died in conflicts.

When I was a young lad, we ate out often, at Iggy's Icehouse we could get five large burgers (exactly enough for our family) in a bag for $1.00, fries were $.10 per order, and soda water was $.05 each so $1.75 fed the entire family.

I thought of this incontrovertible truism today when news broke that Meghan Markle had 'won' her privacy court battle with the Mail on Sunday.

Her victory response was issued within seconds, on regal notepaper adorned with a gold 'M' under a golden crown, and headlined: 'Statement from Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.'

The Court of Appeal decided the Mail on Sunday was not entitled to publish quite as much of her letter to her estranged father Thomas Markle's as the newspaper did.

Had they run less of it, the judges said, the Mail would have been OK.
