Gina Haspel, CIA pick, easily clears intel committee

Gina Haspel passed her first Senate hurdle to becoming the first woman to lead the CIA, winning approval of the intelligence committee Wednesday morning.

The 10-5 vote saw two Democrats join Republicans, including committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner, who said she’ll be a capable and independent leader.

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.
