Obama, Bush to give eulogies at McCain's eventual funeral: report

Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama are expected to deliver eulogies at Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) eventual funeral, NBC News reported Saturday.

The news that the two former presidents plan to speak at the event comes amid revelations that those close to McCain had informed the White House that they plan to have Vice President Pence attend the senator's funeral – but not President Trump.

The New York Times reported earlier on Saturday that McCain's funeral is expected to take place at the Washington National Cathedral.

I saw at Walgreen's about 2 months ago, they had one of those magazine-type books you can have on McCain.

Bad taste, to be going on like this, about his passing.

The first week in Jan. this year, we though my mother (age 93) was a goner for certain. But she lives on, albeit no longer at the top of her game.

I agree...there is plenty of time after his death to announce all these plans...

Surprised Hillary won't give a eulogy, she can reminisce about all the fun times they had drinking together.

I think May 6 (tomorrow) is the magic date, before which, if he passes, there will be a special Election held to replace him.  After that, whomever Doug Ducey names to replace him will serve until the General Election in 2020.  I suspect this week they can stop hiding the fact he's been dead for months and we can get back to having two Senators from AZ.

That's my theory.  Has been for some time now.  They're all in on it, which is why we're starting to see these stories starting to come out.

For all we know that has already occurred but if its announced they can no longer use his vote.

They can't use his vote anyway.  No proxy voting in the Senate, has to be there in person.  We Arizonans have only had one worthless GOP Senator the past six months or so.

Weird...kind of morbid, if he is in fact still alive. Who plans their own funeral? I can understand making preparations, of course. But planning a date? And the invite list? There is something screwy going on with McCain. This whole thing is very far from being 'normal'. Something is going on with this, it is too crazy.

I think he has passed on weeks ago. The fact that I think he is dead speaks for itself. If he were alive, then I would know that. We all would. It would not be in dispute. The fact is that nobody knows.

Doesn't matter.  Just another instance of McCain stabbing somebody in the back, and I'm sure she expected it.  I still expect her to be there, because McCain's family still likes her, and Funerals are for the ones left behind, not the deceased.

That assumes he's still live and lucid.  I'm not so sure about that, the scorched earth may be a product of his "handlers," angling for a better deal when it's announced he's departed.  All of this depends on what they can get Ducey to do.
