Why It Was So Devastating When George W. Bush Said “Islam Is Peace” Right After 9/11
This could be Bush’s most enduring, and most damaging, legacy.
Robert Spencer — April 14, 2018

I wrote my forthcoming book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS mostly chronologically, starting with Muhammad’s conquests in Arabia and moving forward. It’s a bloody history, and one indelible impression one gets from proceeding through the centuries of jihad warfare is of the persistence of the jihadis. They never give up, they never give in, and they never take any setback, no matter how devastating, as decisive. They keep coming, and have kept coming at non-Muslims, from Spain to India and elsewhere, as I show in the book, without respite, without reprieve, without reform.

The worst moment of G.W.'s presidency.

How could he have been so naive....?

Addendum:
Imagine in the days after Hitler invaded Poland, Winston Churchill saying that the German Nazis were a "peaceful people"...

The problem with the declaration, "Islam is a religion of peace," can be made in good conscience and complete sincerity by a Muslim, but only because the Mohammedan conception of peace is defective.  In human affairs, Islam knows no peace between Muslims and non-Muslims, there can be at best a truce, a hudna, which the Muslims feel free to abrogate at any moment when it is to their advantage.  In spiritual matters, the peace promised by submission to Allah is not at all like the peace which passes all understanding that Christ promised us, but like the peace between master and slave, between conqueror and vanquished.  Anyone who does not understand the ways in which the Islamic concept of peace are defective can be easily taken in by the sincerity of the declaration.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
