McConnell Wants Hemp Removed From Controlled Substance List
« on: March 26, 2018, 05:00:00 pm »
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The U.S. Senate's top leader said Monday he wants to bring hemp production back into the national mainstream by removing it from the list of controlled substances.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told a group of hemp advocates in his home state of Kentucky that he will introduce legislation to legalize the crop as an agricultural commodity. The versatile crop has been grown on an experimental basis in a number of states in recent years.

"It's now time to take the final step and make this a legal crop," McConnell said.

I don't have a problem with it per se, but McConnell has some weird priorities.

I don't have a problem with it per se, but McConnell has some weird priorities.

Because of the ruination of the tobacco farming industry out here - McConnell wants to replace it with hemp farming.

More money stolen from other taxpayers in other states to fill his coffers and make 'Team Mitch' a permanent dynasty.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

McConnell's got to know someone in the 'hemp' business and stands to profit is the only thing I can figure. He has already successfully attached language to broader legislation in the 2014 Farm Bill and annual spending packages, that protects state industrial hemp research programs from federal interference.

More than 30 states have 'industrial hemp' projects.  Florida is thinking of jumping on the bandwagon.  Right now they are researching  the risk of any hemp plants becoming invasive threats to Florida’s environment. I saw some humor in that one; as I couldn't help but wonder how from an aerial view you'd be able to tell the difference between marijuana and hemp?
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Sessions won't allow it. He will never allow the devil's lettuce to be legal lest people start going to boogie woogie dance clubs and listening to that jazz music.

(and yea, I know it isn't the same as pot, just being funny)

LOL. I had to look that one up. I couldn't find any registered hemp lobbyists.

But a lobbyist working to reduce useless laws and regulations, I can get behind that. Usually they want to create more laws and regulations to force the market to their favor.

Last year, Hemp On The Hill Lobby Day was on March 1st.  I couldn't find anything for 2018.  There may have been something, but you know how this stuff affects short term....

.....wait.  What was I saying?

Hemp was outlawed because it is virtually impossible to tell hemp from marijuana.

I suspect their will be some hidden small Marijuana farms inside the larger industrial hemp farms for this reason.

I don't think so because it would cross-pollinate. But you could grow a patch and the feds would have no idea which one it was.

 :silly: :silly: :silly:

We was closin in on a ship off of the coast of South Carolina when Edward Teach saw that it was a merchant ship. As ye know, Blackbeard would light hemp that was woven into his beard to frighten the crew of the other ship. For lunch we had eaten some greasy meat, and Blackbeard had not cleaned his beard. When he lit the hemp on his beard, his entire head became a ball of fire. First-matey, Will Lawlor threw a bucketful of water at Teach, but the fire only roared back since it had turned into an all-out grease fire. The ship’s cook quickly ran down to the hull and brought back a sack of flour, ripped open the sack and threw it over top of Blackbeard. By that time we had pulled next to the merchant ship, Blackbeard threw off the flour sack, leapt aboard looking like a pirate ghost. The merchant ship surrendered immediately.
