"Depending on the animal, up to 40 percent of that manure is cellulose, which is then easily accessible," said scientist Alexander Bismarck.

March 21 (UPI) -- A new paper production technique promises to reduce the industry's reliance on wood. Researchers have developed a way to turn cow and elephant dung into paper.

Traditional paper production methods involve the chemical and mechanical breakdown of raw wood into pulp that can be turned into paper products, which can be an energy intensive process.

I've actually seen the poop paper in an upscale stationary store once in manhattan. It was lovely and you couldn't tell it was from poop.

Too expensive. If it was less expensive I would have bought stationary or a journal.

Ever seen elephant dung?  Elephants must have the poorest digestive systems on the planet.  The stuff looks like straw caked with mud.  The fibers are pretty much intact.

From the article:

I hope the first samples go to the New York Times and Washington Post for testing.

Those two papers are already so full of s***, this oughta be a perfect matchup for 'em!
