Mercedes Schlapp is possible Hope Hicks replacement: report

Mercedes Schlapp, the White House director of strategic communications, has been floated as a possible replacement for communications director Hope Hicks.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Schlapp has been discussed internally as a potential successor for Hicks, who resigned Wednesday.
Schlapp is the wife of Matt Schlapp, the president of the American Conservative Union, and a longtime GOP strategist. She was named senior adviser for strategic communications in September, shortly after Hicks was formally promoted to communications director.
If named to the position, Schlapp will become President Trump's fourth communications director in a little over a year.
The post was first handled by Sean Spicer, who simultaneously served as White House press secretary. He resigned after Wall Street financier Anthony Scaramucci was named communications director.
Scaramucci's time in the position was short – less than two weeks. After he was ousted, Hicks took over the job's responsibilities, before she was formally named communications director in September.
