All I want to learn about their/his brain can come from an autopsy.

The Loughner example is pretty simple, actually.  He had brain damage from a severe case of alcohol poisoning, and was a known bad element, so bad the local Community College had banned him from their campus for his violent tendencies.  The failure was an external one, like the case with this school shooter:  The only reason Loughner was still able to procure his gun was because the local Sheriff in Tucson shielded him from being on the NISC list.  He was a pal of Loughner's Mom who also worked for Pima County in an executive position.  (Do I even need to mention the Sheriff is a Democrat, who has won reelection despite all this being known?)

There was nothing to learn from him, and the fellow should have been heading straight for Florence (where Death Row is) for killing a Federal Judge and a 12-year-old girl.

It's not intended to be "a deterrent". That was a fantasy made up by leftists.

It's supposed to be PUNISHMENT for the crime committed.

Fine.  We learn what we can from them.  Then they get the chair.

Fine by me.  I think some people, including child molesters, aren’t fixable.  I think we should be able to use all these people for testing.

I knew about the sheriff but not the brain damage. That’s interesting.  Take him off my list, unless he can be used for some kind of testing.

The person I responded to was talking about deterrence.

Nothing to learn.
Found guilty (which is a no brainer)
tie him to a post,
line up the fathers of the children who were killed.
Put rifles in their hands.
And let him plead his case.

Well, he will have to live with this for a very long time. That said, they'd have to segregate him from gen pop.

Of course they could put him in gen pop. Remember what happened to Jeffrey dahmner when he was in gen pop?

Florida has old sparky. Maybe that's what scares him. No needle.

I hope the jury are 12 people who are parents and grandparents.
Maybe not.  He was said to be on suicide watch.

I don't think it was mean at all.  Very respectful of all the families that just had loved ones ripped from their embrace.  They deserve retribution, and in the best of circumstances it's going to take decades to get it.  I think this shooter has gotten way more compassion than he deserves.

I think of the freshman JROTC student, Peter Wang (my son was JROTC).  He kept a door open so his classmates could make their escape.  He was killed for it.
Yes, he was a hero, like these other guys who acted with maturity beyond their years.  The MSM should be trumpeting this heroism by kids as role models, but bury the story as it does not fit their agenda.

I say, toss the guy a rope, and save the taxpayers some money.

Well I have very little compassion I suppose, and my brother did tell me I was a bad Catholic because I am pro death penalty, but I kind of favor what Nicolas Cage described in this clip. Talk about a deterrent!

Let God show compassion at the Gate.

This guy needs to die!  Quickly.  As Timothy McVeigh did.

Chances are he will be found to be mentally ill. (Performing my online, lay person psych eval.)

It surprises me his attorney is already negotiating a plea and sparing him from the death penalty.

Assuming he is in fact mentally ill, the authorities in Florida have performed badly to leave him running amuck.

It's not his fault that he can't believe,
It's not his fault that he can't behave,
Society made him go astray.
Perhaps if we're nice he'll go away,
Perhaps he'll go away,
He'll go away

Hey there Johnny you really don't fool me,
You get away with murder,
And you think it's funny!
You don't give a damn if we live or if we die

Hey there Johnny boy,
I hope you fry!
