Media slam Devin Nunes, but can't explain why
by Eddie Scarry | Feb 6, 2018, 12:01 AM

Quote
In the lead-up to and following the memo’s release, prominent voices in the media attacked Nunes as a shill for the White House peddling a memo filled with inaccurate information.

Liberal New York Times columnist Charles Blow on Tuesday said that the memo was a “dud” and described Nunes as a “near-treasonous water boy.”

E.J. Dionne of the Washington Post called the memo “a blatant McCarthyite hit piece that breaks little new ground” and referred to Nunes as a “propagandist” for Trump.

But while they dismissed Nunes as a pro-Trump partisan, they didn't identify any specific inaccuracy in the memo.

It really irks me that 'treason' is being thrown around so freely.  It's a very serious charge and the last person convicted of it was Tomoya Kawakita, in 1952.  Even the Rosenbergs were not charged with it.  Everyone needs to knock it off.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

trea·son ˈtrēzən/ noun

the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.
"they were convicted of treason"

synonyms:   treachery, disloyalty, betrayal, faithlessness;

the action of betraying someone or something.
plural noun: treasons
"doubt is the ultimate treason against faith"
synonyms:   treachery, disloyalty, betrayal, faithlessness;

historical
the crime of murdering someone to whom the murderer owed allegiance, such as a master or husband.
noun: petty treason; plural noun: petty treasons

The “T” word fits Ds pretty good to me.  They are definitely trying to take down a duly elected president and interfered with an election.  The use of “treason” is not merely used in a legal fashion.

One cannot dismiss a person’s opinion as total BS simply because the person chose to use the word “treason” as opposed to a word you would prefer.

You are looking at the dictionary definition and not what really matters - US Law Code. There's a big difference.

For actual hanging justice, yes.  For opinion, no.

Just because no one has been charged of treason lately, does not mean that no one should have been.

I can think of one right off hand.  John Kerry, aiding and abetting the enemy in the Viet Nam war and his little girlfriend, Jane, is still feeding the plastic surgeons when she should be feeding the fish.

Irony can be really ironic sometimes.

"The memo was a horrible, awful, treasonous document that really means nothing"

Apparently, you are no more the ultimate sovereign ruler than Trump is.
