MELCROFT, Pa. -- Five people were killed during a shooting at a car wash in suburban Pennsylvania on Sunday and police said they have not identified a motive for the killings. The shooting at Ed's Car Wash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. in the Melcroft community of Saltlick Township, about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The victims were identified as three men and two women, but further information about them was not immediately disclosed. One person was injured.

Four of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while another died at a hospital, according to a state trooper. He said two of the victims were found inside a pickup truck and two others were found outside in the car wash's parking lot.

One can certainly wonder what this was about, 3 AM this morning. With people posting about mass shootings lately, well, a lot of people died. It sounds a bit like a shootout or maybe it is a rampage. Odd location and time for this.

What the hell are that many people doing at a car wash in the middle of nowhere at 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning in January anyway?

Car Wash is a fairly common place to do drug transactions late at night. They are easy to find and well lit so both parties can see what is going on with the other side. The key is speed. If you intend to do this kind of hand off, the key is to get it done in seconds. Because it is so well lit, the cops will spot you right away.


This was almost certainly a drug deal gone wrong somehow. The reason the casualties are so many is precisely because the place is well lighted.

Oh. So it was just another pissed off nut with an AR-15 who wanted to kill his ex-girlfriend and anyone else who happened to be there. That's a shame.


What were they doing at a car wash at 3am? And how did the shooter know they were there? Weird story.

It reads like they were there to meet with the boyfriend, and he showed up shooting. I can only assume that the shooter was drunk or high or both. He shot everybody and then drove off and shot himself.

No link yet, but I have the local news on.  Seems that once again, the bodies aren't even cold yet, but  the anti-gun types are already weighing in, including Giffords.   I felt bad for that woman when she was shot, but now, I can't stand her and her husband.  Just shut up, please!
