Trump Signs Family Caregivers Act
« on: January 26, 2018, 06:12:57 pm »
A new law will require the federal government to develop a national strategy to address the needs of family caregivers, including those supporting people with developmental disabilities.

President Donald Trump signed legislation this week known as the Recognize, Assist, Include, Support and Engage, or RAISE Family Caregivers Act.

The law calls for the secretary of health and human services to establish a national plan to “recognize and support family caregivers” within 18 months. The plan is supposed to include recommendations for federal, state and local governments as well as health care and long-term services and supports providers. The strategy is to be updated every other year.

I don't need a "national strategy" to raise my son with autism. I need Big Gov to get the hell out of my way. Thank God we have special needs school choice in Ohio.

Just what we need, more government, more bureaucrats, another black hole for government funding.

So it's a plan for a plan?
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Support.... how, exactly?   Via taxpayer's $$$?   And.... will that criteria also be extended to all of those with "drug disabilities" (addicts) and the family members that put up wi...er... care for them?

I ask because I can already see how this could, may be or probably will be abused.... just like most other "government programs" with good intentions.

Maybe every other year the HHS Secretary will send them an encouraging card and a bouquet of flowers?

Either way, it will be at taxpayers' expense.... you can bet on that.  I have no problem with help being given to those that truly are in need.  But as we already know, these programs do morph into just another cash cow for the segment of society that always looks for more freebies.... and gets them under Democrats.
