President Donald Trump on Wednesday declined to say whether he would grant an interview to special counsel Robert Mueller and his team, deflecting repeated questions on the topic by saying there had been "no collusion" with the Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"We'll see what happens," Trump said when asked directly whether he would sit for an interview with the special counsel.

Trump then questioned why he would be interviewed, arguing again there had been "no collusion" between his campaign and Russia.

"It seems unlikely you'd even have an interview," Trump said during a news conference at the White House with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

Trump is right to focus on collusion because Mueller could blindside him with questions about anything he chooses. I wouldn't do the interview.
