Statement by the Press Secretary on the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity
White House.gov, Jan 3, 2017

Despite substantial evidence of voter fraud, many states have refused to provide the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity with basic information relevant to its inquiry. Rather than engage in endless legal battles at taxpayer expense, today President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to dissolve the Commission, and he has asked the Department of Homeland Security to review its initial findings and determine next courses of action.

Orders Homeland Security Department to take up investigation
Washington Times, Jan 3, 2017, Stephen Dinan

President Trump dissolved his controversial voter integrity commission Wednesday and ordered the Homeland Security Department to take up the job instead, in a move his backers said could actually speed up a probe of the extent of voter fraud.

Democrats and liberal activists claimed victory, saying they stopped a threat to democracy by derailing the panel, known officially as the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.  But Kris Kobach, who was vice chairman of the panel, said Democrats actually come out behind, because the commission’s work will still be done, only it’ll be completed without any input from Democrats, who had been part of the commission but won’t have a say in Homeland Security’s work.

“It will get done faster, but the Democrats no longer have a seat at the table,” Mr. Kobach said. “If they think this is a victory for the left, they are wrong.”
