Nearly 450,000 People Fled These Three Deep Blue States In 2017

Posted By Will Racke On 8:23 PM 12/26/2017 In | No Comments

Three Democratic-leaning states hemorrhaged hundreds of thousands of people in 2016 and 2017 as crime, high taxes and, in some cases, crummy weather had residents seeking greener pastures elsewhere.

The exodus of residents was most pronounced in New York, which saw about 190,000 people leave the state between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released last week.

Believe it or not not everyone leaving a blue state is liberal. In fact if they are leaving because of taxes, crime or changing demographics its likely they're more conservative than the average of the state they're moving to.

I heard a stat the other day that someone was leaving Illinois every 4 minutes.

I might also consider that these 3 states are among the top 5 most populated.

So, I'm not sure if this is all due to flight and as the article says, only Illinois' actual population has decreased. I think it says that.

My sister lives in Northern VA..Midnite blue in color.

The rest of VA should do what West Virginia did 150 years ago.

It’s a mess, and it’s to the point that northern VA can’t contain them anymore.  They’re spreading out all over the state.

I wonder from where people are fleeing Illinois because I went to Southern Illinois a long time ago for a spell. Do they call it Little Egypt or something? And it was very rural and very nice.

States are more than just one area.

And Chicago really is huge, it took us hours to just drive through there.  Even if one said its 20 downtown Minneapolises, that's understating it.

I know someone who went on a tour there recently even. Something to do with their German heritage. NYC was cleaned up, maybe Chicago can be cleaned up. Fat chance I know as things stand now. I've also heard it's about 30% Hispanic now.
