Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) is asking the Senate to turn over information about the number of sexual harassment claims and settlements against upper chamber lawmakers and their staffers, vowing to publicly release any information he receives for the sake of transparency.

The 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee asked the Senate Office of Compliance (OOC), the office tasked with handling congressional workplace complaints, to supply any such information in a Thursday letter.

He argued that "in the interest of transparency," such information is key to addressing sexual misconduct after a wave of reports about sexual harassment settlements surfaced against individuals working on the Hill.
