So Country over Party is a sentiment the folks here cannot support?

The sentiment is fine - when its not used as self serving bullsh*t.

No, he announced he's retiring, and took about 15-20 minutes of Senate Floor time delivering parting shots at his nemesis, Donald Trump.  It's been said that no dogs were allowed to die in the heat during the speech, but that's not yet been verified.  Flake's kid doesn't have an alibi for the time.

OK thanks for the info, I know Corker was retiring. Thought he was the only one from the GOP.

Supporting Doug Jones is not good for the country, period.

@dfwgator  Please give it up.  Good stuff is happening elsewhere.

Trump is reining in federal land ownership—a drop in the bucket, but a good start.

I think you mean Doug Jones and I would agree with that sentiment that it is not good for the country.

Just saw the name McKasskill of MO. Wasn't see suppose to be on the outs and the Rs abandoned her opponent, Clay Aikman. So, that is one Senate seat there.

I saw one of the major news sources out there was saying people would hold their noses in Al but probably vote for Judge Roy Moore.

Neither Doug Jones nor Roy Moore are worthy of support.  This is a race that merits a third party vote.

I want another conservative on the Supreme Court. I want illegal immigration dealt with properly. I want welfare reform.

Your suggestion is a sure way to see that those things do not happen. No sale.

I do not get a vote, but I have as much right to voice my opinion as anyone else.   Be forewarned - Moore's election will be hung around the GOP's neck by the Dems; the charge of the GOP supporting or refusing to disavow a "child molester" will be leveled at every GOP candidate for Congress next year, and will be used to fund-raise and drive the Dems' voters to the polls.

According to this morning's WSJ:

Quote
But as Alabamans decide, they should consider that there are strong moral and practical reasons to reject Mr. Moore.  For one thing,  Republicans have never embraced the idea - promoted by Bill Clinton's defenders for more than two decades - that bad behavior in a politician can be excused if it's "just about sex".  Now is not the time to change a sound position that politics is about more than policy.

Others may disagree,  but I think the GOP will have more problems if Moore wins than if he loses.  Evangelicals may favor making a deal with the devil, but I do not.

Despite his protestations to the contrary, he wants the Dem for this seat, and hopefully all 33 or so seats up for election.

A childish wish.    It will be one or the other.  The "third"  choice might as well be your fairy god-mother.

There can be no other explanation.

I wanted Moore to step down a month ago,  precisely so a real conservative could run for the seat and defeat the Democrat.   That, obviously, will not occur, and Alabama Republicans are stuck with a lawless hypocrite who will be the subject of an ethics investigation as soon as he is seated.   That's reality, whether you like it or not.

He may win, or he may not, but conservatives and the GOP lose either way.   No, I am not happy about that.

Which means what?   That they have any power over us at all is completely the result of the fact that we keep giving it to them.

Tell them to F*** off,  and stop worrying about what they think.   We should spend our time doing something useful  like trying to garrotte their lying propaganda empire.

Go ahead and make your deal with immorality and hypocrisy.  It is not "childish" to want a better choice.

I'm sure the ethics committee will have at Moore. Actually I'm kinda looking forward to having the "evidence" being offered to support your opinion of the man having to at last suffer some sort of scrutiny. In the meantime Moore will be a reliable conservative vote.

So y'see, its all good.
