....hmm IF this is Cruz's position on NAFTA, I strongly disagree with him on this issue!

Ted Cruz, Beto O'Rourke agree on need for NAFTA, but only one likes Trump's border wall

..........Sen. Ted Cruz and his likely Democratic challenger, Rep. Beto O’Rourke, disagree on many topics but not on this. Neither wants to blow up NAFTA in the ways Trump has threatened. Both support free trade and note that 1 in 4 Texas jobs depends on trade with Mexico. Both foresee dire consequences if Trump’s brinkmanship ends with NAFTA in tatters.

Cruz warned in a major trade policy speech last month of “massive economic costs on Texas and the United States” if the deal falls apart..............

............Cruz has avoided criticism of Trump for threatening to pull out of the trade deal, while the El Paso Democrat doesn’t hesitate to blister the president for putting the deal and all its benefits at risk.

While both agree that a 24-year-old deal could benefit from some updates, they differ markedly on the priorities. The senator would focus on e-commerce, the service sector and energy investments. O’Rourke sees an opening to press Mexico to improve workers’ rights and wages, to redress shortcomings Democrats and their union allies identified when NAFTA was originally negotiated.

There’s also Cruz’s embrace of Trump’s vision for a border wall. The senator says border security dovetails with a trade agenda, and the wall is an integral part of that. O’Rourke says the wall proposal is so offensive — and unnecessary — that pushing it antagonizes Texas’ major trading partner, casting a pall over the trade talks..............

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

  • All deserve a trial if accused
Mitt Romney who was endorsed by Cruz was supportive of Nafta, also Kasich who helped balance the budget ( http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/aug/09/john-kasich/checking-out-john-kasichs-claim-he-was-one-chief-a/ ) who one of the alleged Cruz supporters called a "waste of space".  So,  there is probably a lot of good with Nafta.

Of course the agreement could benefit from some updates; it's called FAIR trade in lieu of FREE trade!  Big difference!
