• President Trump talked tough as he kicked off a 12-day, five-country tour through Asia. Speaking at an American base in Japan, he said the U.S. military stood ready to “overpower” its adversaries.

Here’s an overview of Mr. Trump’s trip, which could include a meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and a look at his choice of traveling companions.

Mr. Trump plans to meet families of Japanese citizens believed to have been abducted by North Korea, an issue that strikes a deeper emotional chord in Japan than the fear of missile attacks.
