Should you wash your hair everyday?

Hair care is a highly personal choice. There is rarely a medical reason to wash hair at all. So the decision about how frequently to wash hair depends on a person's hair type, scalp texture, how oily the hair gets, and personal preference.

For some people, too-frequent washing can cause damaged hair and a dry, itchy scalp. For others, infrequent washing can make the hair look greasy and lifeless.

The curlier a person's hair is, the less often she should use shampoo, unless she just likes having a Halloween wig on her head.   Natural oil is in short supply for curlies, and what there is of it struggles to make it down the hair shaft.

Co-washing----washing with conditioner----is a common practice for curlies, including me.  It cleans without stripping.  I use shampoo once every 2 or 3 weeks.

It really does clean...you can get a gentle squeak when you rinse out, but not so much that you know it's been stripped.
