It seems your arguing that Trump Binary thing again @DiogenesLamp, why can't it be BOTH?
YES, obummer screwed the pooch in regards to N Korea as did GWB who was a little pre occupied after 9/11, but to be honest, Trump's approach doesn't give me that warm peed all over feeling either.
Time will tell, if theirs anybody left to record it.

There is no good way to end the threat posed by North Korea,  there is only bad,  and worse.  It has been getting exponentially worse with every act of appeasement people have conceded to the little god-king.   I don't think the finest President we've ever had would have been able to solve the problem of North Korea without bloodshed,  and Trump is very likely going to be put into a position of doing some very unpleasant things,  and they may have very unpleasant consequences for many Americans.

I think I see the game he's playing,  and it appears that he is trying to pull some psyop tactics on Kim Jong Un.   It may not work,  but the least we can do is let him try.  Anyone can pull the damn trigger on a war,  but if Trump can scare the beejeebers out of the little sh*t,  we may yet prevent a worse tragedy.

Kim Jong Un has grown up as a "god-king".   He has no real awareness of the world outside of his controlled existence.  He doesn't understand that he isn't actually divine,  and that the forces of heaven will not save him.   He doesn't get that he can be hurt,  and will be hurt.

He's never had people talk back to him.  He's never had people mock him.  He's never had people threaten him in such a manner.   He's still processing it, and the experience is new to him.

Trump is playing to basic human emotions and non-verbal communications.   He's using "body language" (for lack of a better term)  and he's conveying alpha-dog behavior to Kim Jong Un.

His pretense of arguing with Tillerson is not a real argument.  It's "good cop, bad cop" role playing.

People should read more of what Scott Adams has to say about Trump's communication techniques before rushing to a conclusion that Trump is a moron.   There is a lot more Sun Tzu going on here than Groucho Marx,  but you've got to be perceptive enough to see it.

And now I will leave it to people who can't resist the need to toss in their "seven dimensional chess" mockery.

So we should celebrate choosing a less nasty person and call it a win... Trump is undermining his own secretary of state... Doing it as if he isn't even in control of his own secretary of state's policies/actions...

I'm sure that's what you see.   That's not what I see.

I reject your premise that just because the last president was a moron and abject failure, that this one cannot also be a moron.

And yet the "moron" keeps winning.   At what point do we have to reevaluate our initial assessment of his moronness?

No one is ignoring the "beam", but there is indeed also a "mote".

But the relative difference in objectionability between Obama and Trump is roughly that of a beam and a mote,  yet so many people keep wanting to focus on the mote.

The misplaced anger was from the people who thought Trump would right all the wrongs that were gifted to us the last 8 years.

I'm angry that that idiot was allowed to wreck so much for the last eight years,  not that someone is trying to unwind it.  I'm angry that the New York and Los Angeles media control systems have so much unwarranted and dangerous power over the electorate such that they could elect this idiot to plague us for the last eight years.

In that regard,  I think I have my priorities better sorted than most.

Seems to me it was the last moron kept winning.  Suuuure got a lot of his agenda implemented didn't he?  But that moron is in the rear view.

Now the current moron(s) are what's in front of us.  Why would I continue to complain about the last one?

You make some very Good points @DiogenesLamp, Good Cop Bad Cop, I get that, and he certainly endears himself to his supporters, but to 'some' others he looks like a jealous 8th grader with his 'little rocket man' tweets, and though he won the primary doing that, in real world geopolitics, I'm worried about this particular approach, but I can be a paranoid SOB, particularly this time of night.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

How cute.  You think that idiot was intelligent enough to have thought up an agenda on his own rather than just putting into place the routine communist style crap that had been thought up by more intelligent men.   No,  Obama just did boilerplate socialist crap,  and surrounded himself with advisors to do the thinking if he ever had trouble figuring out what "socialist Jesus would do."

Obama was the biggest turd in the Washington DC sewer.  Implementing the sewage agenda was just as easy as a turd floating down stream,  because the "establishment"  in Washington DC wanted this agenda,  the "Deep State"  people in the FedGov wanted this agenda,  and the Propaganda Corps out of New York and Los Angeles also wanted this agenda,  and so did the corporate globalists,  and pretty much everyone else who sucked on the government teat as well.

So it wasn't much of a struggle.   Trump,  on the other hand,  is going the opposite direction.  He's bucking the Oligarchs,  he's bucking the Deep State,  he's bucking the propaganda corps,  and he's bucking a lot of other powerful forces,  including his own party,  so pardon me if I consider one sort of "winning"  to be a very different thing than a turd flowing downstream in a sewer.

Because he is the imbecile mostly responsible for the crap we are currently dealing with.   Seems like you need a reminder from our old friend Rafiki.

Years ago someone said "Hollywood is just like high school."  They were referring to the way people in the industry and the "glitterati"  behaved.   Well politics is also just like high school,  but with more nerds and ugly people.

People never really grow up.   Trump is the smart @$$ cut down artist,  and most of the people he finds himself up against are socially awkward nerds,  and yes,  Global politics is high school too.

This approach might not work,  but it has a better chance of working than appeasement,  and if it fails,  we can always have a war.

Appeasement has worked well with Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama.  24 years running.

Ok, what did Ike, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush 41 have done about NK???

Go talk with someone else if you're going to be a patronizing turd.  The article is about Trump's latest stupid Tweet, of which he has many.  If you think immature, schoolboy comments is "winning" then we can agree to disagree.

I'm waiting for someone to tell me that Trump's tweets to his SOS are a form of six dimensional chess in dealing with the North Koreans.

Despite a few good things, such as judicial appointments, there really hasn't been much "winning" IMO. These fights he picks with his detractors via Twitter remind me of "bread and circuses". Plenty of blame to be shouldered by the Senate, but the buck stops with POTUS.

Don't bring up Obama, that administration is over...just as Dubya begat Obama, Obama begat Trump...with a big assist to Hillary. Biden would have cleaned Trump's clock, again IMO.

Someone who has access to the nuclear football should NOT have access to social media. We've had enough personnel turnover in the administration to last four years, let alone 9 months.

If president Truman had listened to Gen. Macarthur instead of firing him this would have been resolved many years ago and there would be no North Korea today!

If he had supported Gen. Chiang Kai-shek in China instead of listening to the Communist bastards in OUR department of state Mao would be nothing but a footnote in history books!

So on and so forth!

Same reasoning can be applied to WWII 'ally', Russia.

We were simply fed-up/exhausted with war.

OTOH...we (GHWB) did it again after chasing Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait (The Highway of Death).

As this assessment is coming from another group of usual suspects, it is, IMO, shallow and expected.

I have understood your opinion about me for quite a while now.  I also know that you know that I don't give a flyin' eff what you think about my opinion.  I know you *want* so desperately to control what people here, including me, post.  It must really burn you up that you can't.

And see,  that's where we differ.   I don't consider it even slightly stupid.   Stupid is promising negotiations or appeasement.   Mocking the little sh*t has the potential to undermine his confidence and his control.

He won the primary with it.   He beat Hillary with it.   He's whipping the NFL with it.  Apparently it is a tool in the "winning"  kit.

There it is!  Just as I predicted.

Don't bring up Obama, that administration is over...just as Dubya begat Obama, Obama begat Trump...with a big assist to Hillary.

Obama is the primary cause of much of the mess we have.  Obama has turned the Military rotten,  he has turn the Federal Government into a weapon,  he has spread corruption through it far and wide,  and he has made race relations worse than they have been since the mass murders of the 1920s.

It is quite important that we keep heaping blame and vitriol on Obama,  if for no other reason than to keep skewing google's data records with references to Obama being a yammering imbecile.  Also it drives liberals crazy,  which is also a good thing.

Obama's name needs to be mentioned every time a mess is brought up as an issue,  and blame needs to be assigned to him.

Biden would have cleaned Trump's clock, again IMO.

I forget.  How good was your judgement about Trump winning the Primary?   The General?

Someone who has access to the nuclear football should NOT have access to social media. We've had enough personnel turnover in the administration to last four years, let alone 9 months.

Not nearly enough.   80% or more of the Democrat Liberal staff of the Fed Gov needs to be put out on their @$$e$.    The Federal Government has become a jobs program for Liberal Democrats,  and we need to cut all that useless and detrimental fat out of the system,  especially the State Department.
