An amphibious assault vehicle with 15 Marines inside burst into flames during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton, California on Wednesday, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

Although the vehicle was engulfed in flames, all of the Marines were able to escape.

However, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to talk with reporters, said that at least three Marines were being taken by helicopter to a local hospital for burns and smoke inhalation.

I'm glad they all got out OK, I wonder if that happened within view of the Freeway, that would cause a jam up. I used to have to travel through Pendelton a lot when I worked a jobs at schools in Santee, Ca. As a matter of fact I made the local papers, of course I'm the guy with his back to the photographer(lucky for all of you)

That was the job that put the final nail in my work coffin, carrying all those 1 1/4 in. slabs of epoxy and installing them.

Hope they're all okay.

This is not very promising for a military vehicle.
