Bound to No Party, Trump Upends 150 Years of Two-Party Rule

WASHINGTON — When Donald J. Trump set his sights on the presidency in the 2000 election, he pursued the nomination of the Reform Party, a home for disenchanted independents. “The Republican Party has just moved too far to the extreme right,” he explained. “The Democrats are too far to the left.”

In the end, he dropped the campaign and the Reform Party, the leftover construct from Ross Perot’s two independent presidential candidacies during the 1990s. It was one of at least five times that Mr. Trump would switch party affiliations over the years. “I’m the Lone Ranger,” he once said in another context.

He was never a conservative period. He's been on every side of virtually every issue over the years. To expect some sort of principles from a man who has none is delusional. It is just another example that populism has no party or particular ideology. It blows with the wind.

As Rush Limbaugh has claimed in his defense of Trump many times over, you can't understand Trump or judge him by traditional methods because "he has no ideology."

How can Rush defend someone who has "no ideology?"  If someone has no ideology, what kind of decisions will they make in any given situation?  Roll the dice!

He has never said he was anything but an entertainer, as far as money grubbing? If so many people choose to put their minds in neutral and take his comments as gospel why should he refuse to take as much money as they choose to throw at him? As for a pill habit, amazingly he coasted right past that bit of hypocrisy being an addict while condemning drug users, but I don't believe anyone anywhere has made the accusation that he has been using again, and there are a lot of people on both sides that hate him enough for that to be missed. I stopped listening to him years ago, got real tired of the constant shilling of his crap, football and Apple.
