GOP Congressman: ‘Republicans Have Effectively Given Chuck Schumer Operational Control of Senate’

Rep. Tom McClintock (R.-Calif.) said on the House floor on Thursday that Senate Republicans had surrendered operational control of the Senate to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)—and that the debt limit and spending dealt that President Donald Trump had made with Schumer was evidence of that.

McClintock argued that the ultimate problem was the Republican Senate leadership’s unwillingness to reform a cloture rule that allows the minority party to block virtually all substantive legislation that the minority does not want to see enacted.

Of course they did. Is anybody surprised by this? The Republicans don't want to be 'in control'. They don't want to be held responsible for anything. Their whole raison d'existence is to duck and hide and run away. Being in control, being responsible for what is going on, scares the hell out of them. They want nothing to do with that.

Just wait to the midterms, when we will see Republicans working with Democrats to ensure Democrats regain control of at least the Senate. Then, the Republicans can go back into frozen stasis, which is their preferred state of being, and blame everything on the Democrats as usual.

By keeping the super majority rule, the Republicans have given control of the Senate to eight democrats---knowing democrats always hang together so no defeat could be tagged as theirs.

The President is trying to change this by reminding McConnell to change the rule or own the results in November 2018.

I can't find anything wrong with what you say. Its pretty clear the GOP will work to defeat any GOP primary candidate who looks like the might deviate from the uniparty mindset, even if it means putting a democrat in that seat.

It does appear to be the goal.  They're giving the uppity people a sound spanking to ensure they never cross them again.

Or.... it's less a matter of Republicans don't want to be 'in control' and more a matter of the fact we duped voters chose Trojan Democrats who ran as Conservative Republicans or voted for Oligarchs because of how much 'bacon' they brought home to them in subsidies.

This is what happens when you vote party over principles and pragmatism over examination of fruits.  You end up with a party taken over and run by the very Leftists you had wrongly believed your party was in opposition to.

It's time for Conservatives to dump the GOP and go elsewhere if they do not want their principles to become politically permanently irrelevant.  Because that is where we are now within the GOP.  And NO - voting for more 'Republicans' IS NOT THE ANSWER, doing so just sends more drones to be corrupted into the Statist hive mind that runs DeeCee.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

A good summary of the inept GOP and bipartisanship

Quote
The Locust Years: The Republican Party 2017-2018?
last paragraph:
Churchill referred to 1934-35 as the “Locust Years” because those were crucial years that should have been spent preparing for war and instead they were eaten up without any result.  What do we have to show for electing a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and a Republican President? Will 2017-2018 be the years the locusts have eaten?

Right.  They are inherently lazy aholes, those RINOs.  It is much easier to pretend to be thwarting the Democrats if/when they are the minority party....when they can put all kinds of legislation on the president's desk to sign, knowing it won't be.  But the pretense is much harder.....and they actually have to 'work' (cue Maynard Krebs here) at doing their jobs of pretending when they have majority control.   They know they have no valid excuses then....no excuse for not doing their jobs as they promised voters.  Can't have that.

The Tea Party Conservatives have been thoroughly betrayed now.....(Lois Lerner let off the hook for crimes against them).... and they have no home, literally, under that GOP tent now.   They should take their game and go elsewhere, start anew.  Might as well.  They've been spinning their wheels for too long now using this strategy.  It ain't workin.  Time to cut the cord.

I am truly a RINO, keeping my registration so that i can vote for Ted Cruz in the primary.

I also cut the cord with formal Tea Party groups, as their leaders used them as a springboard for personal aggrandizement...see Katrina Pierson.

Replace the uniparty RINOs in the primaries. But never ever let your vote help to put a communist Democrat into office.

If that's what it takes to end the career of a uniparty RINO, then that's the medicine I'm willing to take.

Chamber of Commerce has more than enough money to get the Uniparty through the primaries.
