Yup ... they showed up armed with the same weary "I told you so's".  I wonder if they have any idea just how boring they are.   :pondering:
Talk about weary. Your side is armed with the same old weapons of ignorance and sycophantry you've been using the past TWO YEARS.

What was that line he said about shooting someone on Fifth Avenue and not losing support? Y'all are his useful idiots.

Start thinking, sycophants.

This would be a powerful smack-down .... if you had a grasp on what happened in this instance and why. :smokin:

Please explain to me how Trump consorting with his Democrat buds is a good thing.

Our debt to GDP ratio is over 100%. We have more people than ever dependent on government for part or all of their survival.

Can anyone point out were a nation has borrowed and printed it's way into long term prosperity?

The Trump cultists have their fingers crammed into their ears to the knuckles screaming "MAGA!" "MAGA!" while the Marxist Democrats are screaming "MORE!" "MORE!" and the broken laws of economics are going to assert their consequences and absolutely nothing is going to be left standing once those consequences play out.

We're a dead nation walking, and refuse to realize it.

Not boring enough to preclude attempts at rebuttal, apparently.

Trump, along with everyone n DC, is trapped. If they cut anything, some group will scream and howl over the cuts. This issue isn't going to be dealt with through political will but economics and math
If the Pubbies had a set among them, they'd do the cuts, usually where needed will have the most effect in a bloc that doesn't vote for them anyway. Get over the fallacy that they are going to give the Dems anything that will win them Dem votes. Not gonna happen, unless it is smaller government and sound fiscal/trade policies that put the blue dogs back to work. The 'gimmie' class can't be bought, they are already sold.

If they had the intestinal fortitude to do what needs to be done, they'd get more votes from voters they have sitting at home wondering why they even voted for them in the first place as things are.

The bone of contention was for how long to raise the debt ceiling.   GOP leadership wanted 18 months, the Dems dug in their heels and would agree to only 3 months.  Since 60 votes are needed, the minority has effective veto power.   Trump decided to take the 3 months,  together with billions for the victims of Harvey.   A quick victory at a time of true crisis, with another hurricane barreling in.

The Senate's rules give the minority - especially a united minority - inordinate power.   Republican leadership is reluctant to change the rules because they take advantage of them to stymie Dem legislation when the Dems are in power.

Trump is beginning to realize the value of triangulation, of governing from the middle.   On DACA, for example,  a coalition of the center could, I think, quickly codify the program.    Same goes with tax reform, but it won't be the pro-growth reform that conservatives demand.
I don't see it as brilliant dealmaking, more like rubbish. Every three months the Dems can put the screws to the 'pubbies for another bit of blackmail or they'll shut down the government and blame the Republicans. That's all this is, and he's bargaining with terrorists. Where are his thumbs now? He coulda made serious political hay out of this and wimps out now.

GOP livid after Trump cuts deal with Democrats

Congressional Republicans say the move will only embolden Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi in future talks.

By BURGESS EVERETT, RACHAEL BADE and JOHN BRESNAHAN

09/06/2017 07:25 PM EDT

Updated 09/06/2017 11:44 PM EDT

President Donald Trump's and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's tête-à-tête on Tuesday — after a summer of sniping between the two — lifted Republican hopes that the GOP was finally back in sync ahead of a brutal fall of fiscal deadlines.

Not 24 hours later, the president cut a deal with Democrats on a short-term debt ceiling increase opposed by McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan. Just Wednesday morning, in fact, Ryan had scoffed at the Democratic offer that Trump accepted minutes later.

In the aftermath, Republicans seethed privately and distanced themselves publicly from the deal. They were left to hope that Trump’s collaboration with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was a temporary dalliance, and not the new MO for the president.

Brilliant move by Trump.

Instead of leading and building a good relationship with the GOP, by continuing to muck things up and put roadblocks in front of Congress, he can continue to whine like a baby that he's a victim and Congress isn't getting things done.

I hate that he's working with the dims and giving them what they want, but I love that he's called the republicans out.  McConnell and Ryan really look small and petty now.

Trump did the GOP a favor by cutting them out completely, before they showed their arse again like they did on Obamacare and DACA. I'm sure they're relieved.

In the aftermath, Republicans seethed privately ...

It's a pity Republicans still do not see how the voters seethed publically after they kept Obamacare in place, did not defend the President against the Russia collusion and Charlottesville BS, their working against building the wall, their failure to embrace tax reform, their statements that DACAs should stay, and allowing McCain's public "we don't work for him" tantrum to go unanswered.

What goes around GOP, comes around.  I hope the entrenched are not planning any major purchases between now and November 2018.

If there is to be repercussions...then we as Republicans and Conservatives MUST stop buying into the notion that the only way to win is voting for the lesser of two evils.

DeMint: Trump Deal With Dems a 'Betrayal'
« Reply #116 on: September 07, 2017, 01:51:52 pm »

By Greg Richter   |   Wednesday, 06 Sep 2017 10:12 PM

Former GOP Sen. Jim DeMint says President Donald Trump's decision Wednesday to back a plan by Democrats on a short-term debt-ceiling increase is a "betrayal' of Republican principles.

Trump reportedly stunned GOP leaders in an Oval Office meeting when he abruptly joined with Democrats on a debt-ceiling plan. Several Republicans were critical of the president, including DeMint.

Some present at the meeting told CNN it appeared Trump was desperate to make a deal — whatever the cost — because his first seven months in office have yet to produce any major accomplishments.

Texas should be pissed that both the Dems and Pubs have frittered away all the tax money they have paid and now there has to be this BS going on to get what they now need.

Perhaps Mika wasn't far off when she compared Trump to Kim Jong Un. Both tend to lash out when criticized.  Trump does it with a tweet, Kim does it with a live mortar. Thankfully, Kelly is his Chief of Staff...for now.
