‘Hot Water Challenge’ gives teen second-degree burns
« on: August 30, 2017, 02:16:30 am »
The “Hot Water Challenge” sent another teen to the hospital after a friend tossed boiling water on him during a sleepover.

Nickolas Conrad, 15, of Arkansas, had first and second degree burns on his neck after friends heated the water in the microwave and poured it on him at 3 a.m., the  New York Daily News reported.

“Burning, screaming, flesh rolled off” is how Mickey Conrad described her son’s injuries to KARK. “Thank God it wasn't his face ... his eyes.”

While Conrad will recover, according to KARK, the “hot water challenge” appears to have played a role in the death of  8-year-old Ki’ari Pope from Boynton Beach.

Challenge? Actions like this which result in serious injury are assaults and should be prosecuted! Seriously, even a fifteen year old should have the sense that hot water burns, God knows there are enough incompetent restaurant managers that allow the hot water temps in their sinks to exceed a safe temp that these idiots must have experienced it.

15 year olds are raised like hothouse flowers any more, so maybe their mommies don't tell them about the dangers of hot water in order to spare them the emotional trauma of having to contemplate anything so upsetting.

By the time their fifteen they don't need mommy or anyone else to tell them that hot burns, they learned long before lighting their cigarrettes and joints.

@mountaineer

That must be it.  It's amazing that they don't understand boiling water will burn.

Part of me thinks that people in the Dark Ages must have been smarter than we are today.  Sure they were uneducated, illiterate, and superstitious, but I'll bet they had a lot more common sense.

Well, this is new.  Generally internet crazes called "[random noun here] challenge" involve people doing something stupid to themselves with whatever the random noun denotes (while friends document the stupidity by taking video with their cell phones).  How is it a challenge if you do it to someone else?
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
