Democrats hoping Trump hands them the Senate in 2018
by Susan Ferrechio | Aug 23, 2017, 9:00 AM

Democrats are optimistic that a 2018 election map that currently favors Senate Republicans will eventually be turned in their favor thanks to President Trump's low approval ratings.

Current race ratings show a tough road ahead for Senate Democrats. There are seven Democrats in competitive seats and four of them in the "toss up" category.

But it's still early, and President Trump's historically low approval rating could give Democrats a boost if it's sustained into next year, say political experts.

"Even though President Trump won't be on the ballot next year, he'll cast a shadow over the midterm elections," Nathan L. Gonzales, editor of the nonpartisan Inside Elections, told the Washington Examiner.

Keep dreaming, Chuckie.  You signed up to be a noisy minority leader.

I don't think the Rats will pick up the Senate in 2018. The idea that Pres. Trump's approval rating will affect the 2019 elections is silly. Pres. Trump hasn't lost his base. It's the Pub party that is losing Pres. Trump's base. The Pubs will hold the Senate but not pick up as many seats as they should have. The Pubs might lose the House, but will probably hold a narrow margin. In 2020 the Pubs will lose the Senate and maybe the House.

All this could change if the Pubs keep their promises, but right now I suspect they figure their gerrymandered seats are safe and that because the Rats are crazy socialists the voters will stick with the perceived "safe" pick.

I think Republicans will pick up several seats.  They have only 8 at risk and none of those look that vulnerable, whereas dems have several at risk in states won by Trump.

It is 100% in the GOP's hands. Start passing meaningful legislation, and in particular fix health care, and you could pick up half a dozen seats or more.
The Republic is lost.

Everyone running should run on the failure of the current Senate to do the right thing and promise to change all that.

We've already had 8 years of their Hope.

My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.
