Nor here (probably about the same as for D.C.). I probably could have snuck a peek but didn't bother. Used the old pinhole in a piece of paper trick.
I clipped a two inch strip off of a mylar emergency blanket, folded it into three layers. Four completely blocked everything, three was just right--and didn't stare at it, just took a look now and then.

I bought five pairs of eclipse glasses. For $2 a pair. They are now for sale--with provenance--for $300 a pair.
Hang onto them for 2024. That eclipse will be right in my region's wheelhouse, so to speak.

Have you seen a total before? I haven't until today. Very, very cool. Looks like that next one is all yours.

The money I spent on glasses all went to our local EMTs.

It was 99.9% here in the yard. The gas station glasses worked great. Chickens and goats went in their houses but the ducks didn't.

It was one of the most amazing things I have seen  well worth the drive

I was blessed to be on the back deck without having to drive in the sea of insanity out there.

Come 2024, I will get to do it all over again ... off the back deck.  Maybe a bigger party in 7 years, Lord willing.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. watched at work with the paper and plastic eclipse glasses that on our the admins kindly bought for our department. Was just a partial here, but was nice to witness nonetheless.

We caught the first reports from Oregon .... the live shots WERE amazing.  Where are you located?

Southeast Idaho. The boss rearranged our work schedule and we had the day off.

We got 67% coverage. It was immediately noticeable to me when I walked out of the house. I'm really surprised when people say they expected it to be darker.

I was thrilled by the whole thing. I probably don't have a scientific bone in my body, so it's not the scientific aspect that fascinates me. It's the wonder and awe of the world the Creator provided for us. It's the majesty and splendor that causes your heart beat faster and your eyes to fill with tears of emotion even though you can't quite say why.

I can't wait for April of 2024! I'm already planning my trip to North Texas!

This one gave us about ¾ coverage here.

This is the second substantial eclipse in my lifetime, the first one being back in '94, when I was still in grade school. That one made a very near pass over us so I had a general idea of what to expect as far as brightness.

When the day started there were a few thunderstorms and I was starting to get a little nervous, then a few more clouds popped up just as the eclipse started. Then they went away a few minutes later, and—I guess the best way to describe it is that when the clouds cleared, everything seemed dimmer. It was daylight, just not as bright, which really messed with my eyes (and no, I didn't look directly into the sun! The professionals do a better job with getting images than I ever can). That, and there was a light haze, which gave everything a kind of eerie look.

I blew it with video of the eclipse itself. I had even bought a new camera with fast video for this!
I was distracted by kids who were asking me questions (and I'm always glad to help the kids learn), but I did get to see shadow bands and I'm hoping they turn out on video.

I hate to break it to those who saw only a partial, but totality takes it to a whole other level far beyond. Now I know I must make it to 2024. I'm hooked.

The traffic here is bad. I can't get out of town to go fishing.

I had to travel 100+ miles in bumper-to-bumper, stop and go.  It was awful.

Several hours later, I'll finally be able to grab a few hours rest before I have to attend what I'm sure will be the most boring training known to mankind.

I'm saving up for it. I hear Texas is the best place to see it.

I don't think I'll be alive for the one after that, in 56.

I'm glad you saw the entire thing @Suppressed

Heres a cool trick. You don't have to stare at the sun.. I just looked for 20 or 30 seconds, then when you look away the view is etched into your eyeballs. Problem solved!

I am still watching it! :silly:
