Follow Up: Israeli Government Officials Stand Up For HR McMaster…
Conservative Treehouse, Aug 5, 2017

<snip>

Today, the Times of Israel also comes to McMaster’s defense by pointing out that officials within Israel are well aware that HR McMaster supports the pro-Israel viewpoints of the Trump administration:

Quote

(ISRAEL) Israeli officials responded to mounting allegations that US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster is anti-Israel, saying that these were blatantly false and he was a staunch supporter of the Jewish state.

“Anyone who meets McMaster among us and is in contact with him is constantly impressed by how pro-Israeli he is,” an unnamed Israeli security official told the Haaretz daily on Saturday. “The connection with him is excellent.”

The officials also noted that during US President Donald Trump’s recent trip to Israel, McMaster’s held a lengthy meeting with Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, and highlighted his regular contacts with Defense Ministry officials.

On Friday, Trump pushed back against pressure to oust McMaster, stressing their solid working relationship.

In a volley of attacks from right-wing media, McMaster has been accused of being anti-Israel, having a short temper and collaborating with Obama-era officials.

“General McMaster and I are working very well together. He is a good man and very pro-Israel. I am grateful for the work he continues to do serving our country,” Trump said in a statement.

Yeah that's a picture.

Could be fake news though.

The Fake News Claim That Israeli Government Officials Back McMaster

August 6, 2017

Daniel Greenfield

The main McMaster story for me has been his refusal to acknowledge Islamic terrorism and his support for Obama holdovers.

I don't know his exact position on Israel. But his appointment of Kris Bauman, an apologist for Hamas, as the point man on Israel and Caroline Glick's comments, would suggest he shares the basic animus of Obama and Bush officials toward Israel.

But as part of the media's full court press defense of McMaster (itself telling as anything) has been the fake news claim that Israeli government officials support McMaster.

The sources of the Fake News claim are the Times of Israel and Haaretz.

Haaretz is a left-wing anti-Israel paper operating in Israel. It's the equivalent of the New York Times if the latter stopped pretending it hated America and wanted to see it gone. A single incident with its deranged former chief editor should suffice............................

History and ownership

Haaretz was first published in 1918 as a newspaper sponsored by the British military government in Palestine.[6] In 1919, it was taken over by a group of socialist-oriented Zionists, mainly from Russia.[7][8] The newspaper was established on 18 June 1919 by a group of businessmen including prominent philanthropist Isaac Leib Goldberg, and initially, it was called Hadashot Ha'aretz ("News of the Land"). Later, the name was shortened to Haaretz.[9] The literary section of the paper attracted leading Hebrew writers of the time.[10]

The newspaper was initially published in Jerusalem. From 1919 to 1922, the paper was headed by a succession of editors, among them Leib Yaffe. It was shut down briefly due to a budgetary shortfall and reopened in Tel Aviv at the beginning of 1923 under the editorship of Moshe Glickson, who held the post for 15 years.[8] The Tel Aviv municipality granted the paper financial support by paying in advance for future advertisements.[11]

Salman Schocken, a wealthy German Jewish Zionist who owned a chain of department stores in Germany, bought the paper in 1937. His son, Gershom Schocken, became the chief editor in 1939 and held that position until his death in 1990.[12]

Until August 2006, the Schocken family owned 100% of the Haaretz Group, but then the German publisher M. DuMont Schauberg acquired 25 percent of the shares.[13] The deal was negotiated with the help of former Israeli ambassador to Germany, Avi Primor.[14] This deal was seen as controversial in Israel as DuMont Schauberg's father, Kurt Neven DuMont, was member of the German Nazi party, while his publishing house promoted Nazi ideology.[15]

On 12 June 2011, it was announced that Russian-Israeli businessman Leonid Nevzlin had purchased a 20% stake in the Haaretz Group, buying 15% from the family and 5% from M. DuMont Schauberg. This means that the Schocken family now owns 60% and M. DuMont Schauberg and Leonid Nevzlin have 20% each.[16]

In October 2012, a union strike mobilized to protest planned layoffs by the Haaretz management. As a consequence, both the Haaretz newspaper and its TheMarker business supplement were not printed for one day. According to Israel Radio, it was the first time since 1965 that a newspaper did not go to press on account of a strike.[17][18]

and:

Criticism

Andrea Levin, executive director of the American pro-Israel Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting (CAMERA), said the newspaper was doing "damage to the truth" and sometimes making serious factual errors but not often correcting them.[39]

According to The Jerusalem Post, Haaretz editor-in-chief David Landau said at the 2007 Limmud conference in Moscow that he had told his staff not to report about criminal investigations against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in order to promote Sharon's 2004–2005 Gaza disengagement plan.[40]

In April 2017, Haaretz was at the center of controversy in Israel when it published an op-ed by a staff writer that said the religious right is worse than Hezbollah.[41][42] Widespread condemnation followed, including from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Reuven Rivlin, and other government ministers and MPs, as well as from Opposition Leader Isaac Herzog.[43

If this were up for vote, which it isn't; I sense most of McMaster's acts have some sort of logic to them rather than just telling people what he did, per the other article in hotair as well. I would support McMaster. I could be wrong, I've been keeping up with the story some.

It seems to me that it isn't quite clear what McMasters is about.  I am sure we will find out in the near future.  But this story doesn't seem to be verifiable.  We do know that there is a video of McMasters talking about the Western Wall.  Wouldn't declare the Western Wall to be part of Israel.

Thx for that.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
