TUESDAY, July 4, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- Make sure safety is part of kids' summer fun.

"With kids spending more time outdoors, there is more opportunity for everything from broken bones, sprains, strains and lacerations, to tick bites and heat stroke," said Dr. James Dwyer, director of emergency medicine at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Hell, raising 4 very active boys, the wife and I were on a first name basis with the ER folks in Granbury, Tx and Joliet, IL.

The only way to avoid that is to keep them penned up in their rooms covered in bubble wrap.....

That so  many parents are willing to do just that is why we have raised a nation of snowflakes.  Of course I don't want children to get hurt, but bumps and bruises are part of growing up
God is still in control

If you don't chip or knock a tooth out and break a few bones as a kid because your helicopter mom is organising your play dates till you are 16 years old........you are gonna be stuffed into a locker with a used kotex necklace and have your tighty whities pulled up over your neck.

AND concussions, broken bones (hand, wrist), banged up knees, one ripped up his hands climbing a chain link fence (45 stitches), another pulled an old fashioned 24" tube TV down on him at age 4, needed 10 stitches in his forehead.....

I find that the youth are more inclined to eff around on their smartphones all day, rather than ride their bike down the driveway, hitting a ramp at 40 and launching clear over the hedges on the other side of the road.

Good times.

I know, right?

My ol bike, a Sears 'Spyder Super 44 Drive' complete with banana seat, sissy bar, and racing gearshift on the bar wound up with a red white and blue paint job... I'd jump that ol girl 187 feet in the air every day... They just don't make em like that anymore :D

One of the older kids in the hood actually had an Evel Knievel bike.

Solid.
Flashy.
Hip.
