A HUNGARIAN man who mowed down and killed two young cousins in a hit-and-run on New Year’s Eve was allowed into Britain despite a string of violent convictions.

Gabor Hegedus, 39, was jailed for four years today after ploughing into Helina Kotlarova, 12, and Zaneta Krokova, 11, when they were heading home for a New Year party with family.

Hegedus, who was driving at 40mph in a 30mph zone before striking the girls, was convicted in his native Hungary of robbery, motoring and dishonesty offences.

Helina was thrown into the opposite carriageway and hit by another vehicle coming the other way, while Zaneta was thrown more than 65ft by the impact, both suffering massive injuries.

If one reads the story, apparently the girls did come out from behind a parked car but the accused was speeding anyway. The guilty in this case, appears not be some Muslim(?) but likely should not have been let into the country. It's interesting how all of those involved in this, sad for the 2 girls,  have non-English surnames.
