Awww can't even bring yourself to be brave enough to quote what I said in your complete devotion to Donny.

Ah, no @txradioguy ... I did not repost your  :bs: out of respect for this forum and its members.

@kidd

No.  You don't have to fish to pin things on Trump.  He keeps sticking those pins in himself, over and over and over.

He's not trying to fight the media.  He's just an insecure man who can't deal when his feelings get hurt.

What?   That Trump and Pecker (lolol) are good buddies?  We already knew that.

Disability is an odd metric because its just as often one of choice for retired persons. Depending on individual circumstances they often make a choice between straight social security And social security disability. My mom got hurt shortly before retirement and chose SSDI but switched to straight SS when she officially retired.

For several years, the Social Security Administration sent people to me to test them to see if they were disabled.  SS never saw these people; they depended on my test results to determine whether or not they got disability payments under any of their SS disability programs.

My testing took four hours.  They also had to bring their medicines to me.  Whatever I recommended determined what happened to them the rest of their lives.  I took that responsibility seriously.  My reports were 11 pages long, single spaced.  I saw people with terrible disabilities.

There was one woman I tested who I did not recommend to get disability payments and SS rejected her.  She called my office and wanted a copy of my report.  I could not give it to her as SS owned that report; they paid for it and it was theirs.  I told her she would have to get the report from SS.  I found out later from SS that she had been rejected before.

I lived near NASA, south of Houston.  There was one girl I tested there when I was an Associate School Psychologist.  She was in elementary school at the time.  She was mentally retarded and I put her in "Special Programs" for the mentally retarded.  Then, when I was in private practice and doing SS testing, who shows up at my office but this girl as she was now out of school.  I tested her to qualify her to receive disability payments the rest of her life.  I had come full circle with this beautiful retarded girl.  My testing documented she needed disability payments and she got them.

This morning, Scarborough revealed a session between Trump and 20 members of congress, as described to him by an attendee.  They had met to discuss the health care bill, but for whatever reason Trump launched into a long, red-faced diatribe about Mika Brzezinski.  She has blood coming out of her ears, eyes, and so on.

@txradioguy

Absolutely, because if he can stop an Enquirer story from being published, it follows that he would have no influence at all over a negative story involving a political rival.

During a campaign.

For president.

It seems he admitted just the opposite. He didn't say he can't stop it, but he wouldn't, as though he had direct influence over it.

Irony.

Trump is doing some good things.  He's also doing some idiotic things.  This tweet nonsense falls into the latter category.

It seems he admitted just the opposite. He didn't say he can't stop it, but he wouldn't, as though he had direct influence over it.

He told Wolf Blitzer that he never believed the story but he told it anyway because he wanted to win.

He knowingly repeated a story he didn't believe for personal gain and that is LYING.

Its a shame that so many "conservatives" have adopted the Clinton standard of the "definition of is".

Funny thing about data presentation. If the numbers won't make your point, try percentages.

If there are ten people in a room and five of them qualify, that's 50%
If there are a million and only 10% of them qualify, that's 100,000. You can hide the numbers with percentages, but saying there are "more" when there is just a higher percentage in misleading.

For instance, in West Virginia, in Dec. 2016, if you take OASDI (Old age, survivors, and disability) recipients' actual numbers, you find that they are 470,240 in number, less than 1% of the total of 60,907,307 recipients in the country for the same month https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/factsheets/cong_stats/2016/wv.pdf Of that total, 89,508 were disabled workers, who were .14% of the total recipients in the country, and of the 8,808,736 disabled workers nationwide, they represent only 1.02%

Considering there are 50 states, in real numbers, the other 49 are 98.98% of the beneficiaries, and I hardly think this puts West Virginia high on the radar.

By contrast, New York has 502,062 disabled workers in the same month (over 5 times as many)source, and California had 682,668 disabled workerssource , again in the same month, 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 times as many recipients, respectively, as West Virginia.

Anyone who wants real numbers (assuming the Soc Sec folks know what they did) for Dec. 2016 can find them here https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/factsheets/cong_stats/2016/index.html, by state, by region, but oddly enough not just summarized in a table.

Someone was using derivative data rates rather than actual numbers to make their point, but the point and the presentation are misleading, and make some regions look worse than others.

It also ignores the tremendous effort put forth by the Obama Administration to get folks in 'Coal Country' to sign up for Federal programs, from Welfare to SSDI, in a region which traditionally resisted being "on relief" because of the social stigma attached to not 'doing for your own'.

There ya go... Great post, and worth repeating.

There is SOME truth in it == I would expect a higher rate of disability in coal country, in the Alaskan fishing industry, in the patch, loggers of course, mill work/green chain... and so on. Suburbia doesn't have anything nearly as dangerous as what country folk do as a part of life. Pretty much every job I have ever had was 'dangerous'.

@Sanguine he does that with regularity.

And that is the point. It was a great thing to 'steal the show' when he was campaigning. In fact, it was wonderful. But that model of behavior does not apply anymore. He gains nothing from this.

You're exactly right, so lay the blame where it belongs.  Stop with the absurdity that we have to accept and excuse every idiot move Trump makes, and if we don't, we're the problem.

'Morning Joe' hosts: White House threatened us with tabloid story

By The Hill staff - 06/30/17 11:56 AM EDT

The hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday made the startling allegation that senior White House officials threatened them with a negative story in the National Enquirer unless they called President Trump and apologized.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, who are engaged to be married, revealed the alleged threat in an op-ed in The Washington Post that was published the morning after Trump attacked Brzezinski in two widely condemned tweets.

"This year, top White House staff members warned that the National Enquirer was planning to publish a negative article about us unless we begged the president to have the story spiked. We ignored their desperate pleas," they wrote.

Brzezinski and Scarborough detailed the alleged blackmail attempt during Friday's episode of "Morning Joe."
“We got a call that, hey, the National Enquirer is going to run a negative story against you guys, and it was, Donald is friends with — the president is friends with — the guy that runs the National Enquirer,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough said “three people at the top of the administration” were calling him about the story the tabloid was preparing.

“And they said, if you call the president up, and you apologize for your coverage, then he will pick up the phone and basically spike the story,” he said.

“The calls kept coming, and kept coming, and they were like, ‘Call, you need to call, please call, come on Joe, just pick up the phone and call him.'”

Brzezinski said the National Enquirer was “threatening” her children at the time with phone calls.

“These calls persisted for quite some time, and then Joe had the conversations that he had with the White House, where they said, ‘Oh, this could go away.’”

“Our response was screw it, just let them run it,” she said.

IMO its not Minutia if you've got a President trying to use the National Enquirer to blackmail a couple of journalists into more favorable coverage or at the minimum an apology for something they said.

His attacks on Twitter are bordering on slander that could get him in legal trouble as well.
