Fitzgerald crew ignored warning signs, report says

By: Geoff Ziezulewicz, June 26, 2017

The captain of the cargo ship that collided with the U.S. destroyer Fitzgerald earlier this month said in a report that the U.S. warship failed to respond to warning signals or take other evasive maneuvers, Reuters reported Monday.

The collision early on June 17 off the coast of Japan killed seven sailors. They were still in their living quarters at the time of the impact.

If the cargo ship knew of the danger of striking the Fitzgerald, then they would have been aware of the collision.

So why did they return to the original heading for half an hour before turning around and heading back to the collision site, arriving approximate an hour later?

I said it on another thread - dumping contraband since they knew they'd be locked down as soon as they made port. They ALL smuggle.
