DOJ Files Statement of Interest in TX Sanctuary City Case

The Dept. of Justice has filed a “Statement of Interest” supporting Texas’ new law that bans sanctuary city policies throughout the state. The State of Texas is currently being sued by several Texas cities and others who oppose the SB4 law.
The SB4 law restricts cities, counties, and universities from prohibiting their local law enforcements agents from asking about a person’s immigration status and enforcing federal immigration law. Texas is the first state to ban sanctuary cities.
