Another question .... and it's a serious one: Does anyone know who we are fighting over there?
Thanks.
Ever hear of ISIS?
You must not read much on the conflict or read the dispersing of Russian/Iranian/Syrian propaganda by some dunderheads (polite word) elsewhere.
Good point. I guess I'll tighten the question a bit. Are we supporting members of or affiliations of AQ and/or ISIS in our (presumed) effort to oust Assad?
The war is in its 7th year, Russia has been there 2 years, Iran has been in there. Are we suppose to believe they can't defeat ISIS in all that time?
It's no secret, the missiles that terrorists such as Hamas fire into Israel come through Syria from Iran. Syria has been listed as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1978; they are also still in a state of war with Israel. Bush almost expanded the war into Syria, because Assad allowed Al Qaeda to operate, have camps and attack the US forces from Syria. This is all a matter of historic fact. Not speculation. Father Hafez Assad probably helped blow up 250 Marines at the Beirut Barracks Bombing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Beirut_barracks_bombingsWe have hit ISIS a lot; we don't really hear about the Russians and Syrians doing that much to them.
http://fortune.com/2017/01/20/oil-gas-isis-syria-assad/Assad per the state department, is ISIS's biggest customer for oil and gasl.
We are not really fighting Assad per se at all, what we did was in self-defense.
Read Our Guys,
the SDF, Syrian Democratic Forces, Kurds mainly with some Christians and Arabs too.
There is a lot of disinformation out there. Probably on both sides, dig into the matter.
@Right_in_Virginia @EC Syrian Democratic Forces

20,000 from mostly ethnic Arab militias[52][53]

The Syrian Democratic Forces (Arabic: قوات سوريا الديمقراطية, translit. Quwwāt Sūriyā al-Dīmuqrāṭīya, Kurdish: Hêzên Sûriya Demokratîk, Syriac: ܚܝ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܕܣܘܪܝܐ ܕܝܡܩܪܛܝܬܐ, translit. Ḥaylawotho d'Suriya Demoqraṭoyto), commonly abbreviated as SDF or QSD, are a multi-ethnic and multi-religious alliance of Kurdish, Arab, Assyrian, Armenian, Turkmen and Circassian militias in the Syrian Civil War.[85][86] The SDF is dominated in manpower and militarily led by the People's Protection Units (YPG), a mostly Kurdish militia.[87][88] According to the Pentagon, Kurds made up 40% of the SDF and Arabs 60% in March 2017.[89][90] Founded in October 2015, the SDF states its mission as fighting to create a secular, democratic and federal Syria, along the lines of the Rojava Revolution in northern Syria. The updated December 2016 constitution of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria names the SDF as its official defence force.[91][92][93]
The primary opponents of the SDF and their allies are the Salafist and Islamic fundamentalist groups involved in the civil war, in particular the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Turkey-backed Syrian opposition groups, al-Qaeda affiliates and their allies. The SDF has focused primarily on ISIL,[94] successfully driving them from important strategic areas, such as Al-Hawl, Shaddadi, Tishrin Dam, Manbij, al-Tabqah, Tabqa Dam & Baath Dam.[95][96][97][98][99][100][101]

Even to those people saying "Oh, McCain met with Bagdadi, ISIS head, that is hardly proven and Rand Paul said it and the reporting on his saying that was that he said something that was debunked, let alone, those kinds of things are years and years old now.
You like Syrian refugees? Well, Assad is your guy then, he reportedly is the one most people flee.
Assad protects Christians? That's another you hear, research it again. The Assad likely assassinated Christian leaders in Lebanon let alone, the Syrian army invaded a largely Christian nation, at least a country with a lot of Christians. I don't quite understand the Lebanese civil war except it was long and many lost their lives in that one too.
