Trump attorney: There's no investigation of the president, period

One of President Trump’s attorneys on Sunday insisted “there is not an investigation of the president of the United States, period.”
 
He was responding to reports that a Justice Department investigation has expanded to obstruction of justice charges related to the president’s decision to fire an FBI director, as well as apparent confirmation by the president himself.
 
 
“Let me be clear here,” said Jay Sekulow, a member of the president’s legal team, on NBC's “Meet The Press.” “The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction."

This is ridiculous. Trump tweeted that "he was being investigated by the man who told him to fire Comey". As usual, despite Sean Spicer telling us that Trump's tweets speak for themselves one of Trump's employees has to go out there and lie and make a fool out of himself with another inane explanation. This time it is that there isn't enough character space on Twitter. Well then if that is the case perhaps Trump shouldn't make statements if he doesn't have room to add that he didn't really mean what he just said. It is insulting speaking such foolishness to the public like we are all a bunch of imbeciles.

Five other times Spicer has said that Trump's tweets "speak for themselves".
